I travelled with friends during the recent Easter holiday. I have read reviews and wonder whether we were in the same hotel. We arrived early afternoon and were welcomed to the property and given a quick tour. The lovely gentleman on reception offered assistance with bags -be warned, this is a listed building and as in many properties in this part of the world, the stairs are very steep. He also took my husband to the carpark, which we had booked, as was recommended. Access was tight, and I was glad we did not have a very large car! Our room was simple but clean and comfortable. The bathroom was nice and bright and well supplied with towels. A small curtain across the front of the bathroom would have been nice, as we could all see the reflection in the bathroom mirror, so privacy was a bit compromised! The beds were comfortable and we slept well despite being just minutes away from the busy Market Square. Rooms were supplied with wifi, a tv and tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast in the morning was more than adequate with a fair amount of bread, meats, cheeses, cereal and a hot option was also provided. There was no rush and we lingered quite late with our coffee. The staff were very helpful and suggested some nice restaurants and places to visit, along with maps. I was very happy with the hotel. Yes it is a budget option, but so is the price! It was good value for money

Small family run hotel. Clean, no frills hotel with great bathrooms. Very close to the main square. Friendly and helpful staff. No elevator and lots of stairs so be prepared but if you ask, someone will carry your bags. Old well kept building. Restaurants close by.

We stay here regularly and whilst we enjoyed our stay this time it could have been better.

Firstly we arrived very early stating that we just wanted to drop our bags somewhere (not necessarily in our rooms, just a storage area would do) and go for a wander. However we were repeatedly told we were too early.

Then when I asked to park the car this became and even bigger problem because I hadn’t pre-booked (there was no need to pre book this on previous stays and it’s not made clear on Booking.com) so I had to park in the local multi-storey car park at my own cost, this is only round the corner and costs €21 from Friday morning until Sunday afternoon so not too bad, it was just the way it was handled that left a bitter taste in the mouth.

Hotel is in a great location and we had the loft room in the old part of the hotel which was amazing.

Bed was comfy enough but the pillows were very poor...

Breakfast is basic but ok. As with some of the reception staff, the breakfast staff can be grumpy but we found this rather funny...

Stayed only for 1 night to finish our trip off. Quite basic and tired rooms although the bathroom was modern and the shower was good. The bed was large but the pillows were small and uncomfortable.

The breakfast was basic but good with a cooked option which was a bonus. We stayed on the first floor and found the staircase to be extremely steep and a bit dangerous.

The staff on reception where very nice and courteous.

The hotel is a few minutes walk to the main square.

I stayed here for 2 nights with my sons (aged 13 and 11). We had room 2 which had one double and one single bed- both a good size and very comfortable though we’d have liked extra pillows.
The whole hotel is extremely elegant - beautiful wooden floors throughout, a gorgeous curved staircase and good quality furniture. Very understated. The room was nice and warm and very quiet with a double layer of glass on the window. The street outside was quite busy with building work nearby but we didn’t hear a thing and slept really well.
Bathroom was large with bath and overhead shower that was fine but nothing special. (The water had to be mixed to get the right temperature). I was a bit disappointed not to get a roll top bath like other rooms!
If I was being picky, my one complaint would be that the room wasn’t very cosy- the single bed was a long way from the double (almost a separate room in itself!) That was fine for us as it gave my teenage son a bit of space but might not suit a younger child.
Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and scrambled eggs to die for! Staff were pleasant and unobtrusive. I’m sure they would be helpful if needed.
The hotel location is ideal being close to the Markt and very easy to find.
One last thing- the whole hotel was spotlessly clean and the two ladies who cleaned evidently did a great job.
If you like quiet, understated elegance in typical Bruges style then this hotel is a great choice.
