“A lovely oasis!”

Villa Kimbo is a lovely, quiet and relaxing oasis, yet only a short drive down to Praia da Luz. The villa is large and spacious with everything you need including a new TV. The swimming pool is great and our children were hardly out of it for the week. Jose & Teresa are wonderful hosts - they left a fantastic welcome hamper, allowed us to help ourselves to produce from their orchard (fresh oranges, grapefruit, avocados) & even sent home my sports kit I accidentally left behind. A wonderful stay.

“Paradise in Portugal!”

We have just returned from a (very hot) weeks stay at Villa Kimbo and I am missing the villa soo much already! There were 3 adults and 4 children (aged 8 to 15)
We arrived from Manchester airport to faro at 7.45/8 in the evening and after having got our bags and collected our hire cars we set off on what we thought would be just over an hours drive away!! We didn't arrive until 11.45 after getting lost! Our mistake....following thomsons directions!! If you head for the name of villa kimbo you won't find it, look for the name 'Horta da Avozinha' which is the name of the property where villa kimbo is!! It's a very dusty track with very few properties along the road, the entrance is a pair of electric wooden gates!
You drive through the gates and it's like a paradise! The first house is the owners, the second another smaller villa and then last on left is villa kimbo! Even though there are 3 properties, they are all very private and safe.
The pool is AMAZING! It was definitely our favourite part! We went in what was an extremely hot week and spent the majority of time dipping in and out of the pool and relaxing on the poolside and on the terraces! (The pool is shallow one end and very deep the other end. The shallow end was probably a meter deep).
The main terrace is where the plastic table and chairs are and where we spent most of our time!! There is also a terrace with a BBQ and a beautiful heavy oak table and benches, where we ate each of our evening meals; then there is a small terrace with a small table to enjoy a breakfast or a quick drink, this terrace is next to the kitchen. The kitchen although tiny has everything you will need for making any meal. We had some fabulous meals (made by my brother which is even better when you don't have to cook!!). There is a large fridge and largish freezer, a dishwasher and (in the pool room) a washing machine! (We never used the dishwasher (we got kids to wash up!!) or washing machine!).
There is also a huge lounge although this was used very little as it was too hot to sit indoors.
The 4 bedrooms are all very spacious and all have their own bathrooms with baths and showers. The showers are fantastic, although the hot water can take a while to come through!
The beds were very comfy and as it was so hot we only had sheets. The pillows were a little flat, but by no means did it affect my sleep!!!
Outside there is a washing line and a clothing maiden to dry clothes and towels.
Each of us were provided with a bath, hand and swimming towel so there is no need to bring any (although we did as we used our own for the beach), the towels were changed in the middle of the week too. We also had tea towels and a cleaning sponge and washing up liquid.
We were welcomed with an amazing welcome pack, that after our long journey was the best surprise I have ever had, we were all starving and thirsty and was dreading going out to hunt supplies down!! It had milk, bread, ham, cheese, coffee, tea, jam, wine and bottled water!
In the grounds there is a beautiful orchard which houses a number of fruit trees including oranges, lemons, figs and avocados. There are also chicken and ducks which our kids enjoyed feeding bits of bread to! (The chickens and ducks are behind fencing so there's no need to be worried if there'll be wondering around whilst you're sunbathing!!!)
The nearest supermarkets are in Lagos, about a 10 minute drive away. We went to the Intermarche on the first day and then lidl. We personally loved lidl and found it a lot cheaper than intermarche, and lidl was also a lot better stocked and because we have a lidl back home I think we were just more familiar with their products! There was also a small spar and a Baptista (like a spar) in Praia da luz (5minute drive) but we never needed to use those as we got enough in Lagos!
We also visited the beach at Salema about a 20 minute drive down the coast, which is beautiful. It was a quieter beach than Praia da luz and a bit more geared up for families with younger children.
The hosts Jose and Teresa are the most beautiful and warm people you could meet, they really made our stay perfect and we can't thank them enough for allowing us to stay at their beautiful property! Nothing was too much trouble for them and they made it clear that if we wanted anything we only had to ask, although we didn't as everything was provided already. Even though they are on the grounds they left us to our own privacy and we didn't even know they were there.
Just a couple of other things:
- the hot tub is in the shared garden at the front of the property and is an extra price (can't remember how much!) and had to be booked in advance.
- there is no air con although fans are provided the property was still quite hot. Equally there are plenty of heaters and 2 open fires if you are coming in the colder months!
- there were quite a few flies (quite usual for Portugal) and therefore we had a few pet lizards during our stay! 2 of our kids were a bit freaked out by this (the other 2 loved them!) but soon got used to it and they were never in the bedrooms, in fact once there was noise from us they hid away!!!
Can definitely recommend villa kimbo for a complete relaxation holiday! Absolute heaven!
Thank you Jose and Teresa

“Little Bit of Paradise”

Well the picture gallery does Villa Kimbo no favors, it far surpasses what you will expect seeing pictures. The Villa itself is located approx. 5 minute drive from Luz town and is so peaceful it is un-true, no noise or light pollution at all. When we arrived the Villa was ready with a lovely welcome pack which saved on running around on immediate arrival, and proved to be a wonderful home for our week. I cannot honestly remember the last time I was so relaxed, all amenities are on site, including Pool, Patios, BBQ. The owners were away when we arrived but called in to see us later in the week but other than that we were left to our own devices, and if I had my choice I would happily have over stayed our time, indefinitely. Would I recommend Villa Kimbo? Undoubtedly, Would I stay again at Villa Kimbo? Yes, yes, yes, in a heartbeat. Just I may not be so easy to remove if I visit again.

“Fantastic Villa”

Well what can we say as well, we can only reiterate what lot of other reviews has said..
We also found Jose & Teresa most obliging hosts and owners...
The welcome was fantastic, even though we were far too early to take over the Villa..( After 3pm)
Jose told us not to worry, and directed us to one of the outside terraces...
He then promptly went and served us up with cold beers (Most Welcome they were too)..
When we were allowed to enter the Villa we found a wonderful "Welcome Pack" with all fresh supplies you could want to start your holiday...Beers Wines, Bread, Ham, Butter Ect, Ect, too many to list...
Our hosts then left us to get on with it and unpack ect...
The Villa was very clean as was the bedding, we found extra bedding in the wardrobes as well as extra pillows & blankets (If was Needed), and also all towels including Pool/Beach towels..
The next morning both our hosts arrived and checked with us if we needed anything, or we have had any problems..(None was Found)..
We found the position of the Villa very private and quiet, (except for the birds and the excited geese) ...which we all loved to hear..(being Country Bumpkins) we also had fun in feeding them in the morning.. they seem to know what time we took our El Fresco breakfast, and wanted some of ours...
On one of outside 2 terraces...Our weather for late Sept/early Oct was very good to us..Sun, Sun, sun & very warm during the day....
You Definitely need a car (unless you are very active and love walking) as the main shops are 3/4 miles away, with plenty of our well known supermarkets such as : Lidl, Aldi, and also theirs as Intermarche, all very easy to find in Lagos...
The only negative we could find in Villa, is our bed was very hard (Our Personal Preference), some others might prefer that type of bed....
We could not praise the Villa and of course the owners in making our holiday experience fantastic, keep up the good work Jose & Teresa.....
We will return one day, soon.... Many Thanks..

“Wonderfully warm welcome and a home from home villa”

Well , what can I say .... The owners Joze & Theresa deserve five stars on their welcome alone. We stayed at villa Kimbo , myself , partner and 3 children from 30th August to 5th Sept and we did not want to leave !!

We arrived late in the evening and was welcomed by Joze , a very warm hearted genuine person who instantly made us feel at home. The fridge was stocked of milk ,juice , bread , butter ,jam , wine, ham , cheese .....everything you'd need for a supper and breakfast ! We felt safe and secure and knew help was never far away if needed.

The villa is huge and spotlessly clean with everything you can think of and more to make your stay a comfortable and pleasant one.

From inflatables to ironing board and even washing powder for the washing machine. For extra plates and bowls check out the cupboard in the living room! And for mosquito plugs check out the drawer outside the main bedroom. Although none of us were bitten at all by anything,

The grounds are perfectly kept and the orchard offers an abundance of fruit which Joze told us to pick and use. The grounds are private , no one overlooking you at all. There is a smaller villa in the grounds but we never saw the people staying there as its so private.

The geese are lovely and it was great to be able to feed them every day.

The children enjoyed the huge pool which is sloped and gets quite deep at the deep end. My children can all swim but I guess this is not ideal for toddlers, however there was a blow up paddling pool to hand that I would have used if needed.

There is also a children's play area at the front of the property and a jacuzzi (payable locally).

There is ample bedding and towels ( inc. beach towels) provided.

The beach at Praia de Luz is 5 minutes by car and is lovely and sandy, Lagos is around 10 mins away and also has lovely beaches and great little shopping area along the front and back streets.

We stocked up at the intermarche in Lagos for the week which saved us lots of money. We did go out in Praia de Roche and Sangres a couple of times. We didn't venture out in Espiche but there are a few restaurants. We couldn't find a shop there though !

All in all a wonderful Villa run by wonderful people. I would certainly return in a heart beat and highly recommend this Villa to anyone wanting a laid back peaceful holiday , no noise , no hassle just perfect
