Excellent and restored quite small but well worth a visit. As pensioners entry was free. Lovely views from the top over the town.

As you can see from the pictures the castle looks pretty impressive from the outside. The reality is that much of this is a reconstruction. Nevertheless, once you've paid the small amount to get in, you have a fascinating small museum, a couple of furnished rooms and a wall walk with pretty good views. All in all, excellent value for the minimal entrance fee and definitely worth an hour of your time to have a look.

The museum is new and has some interesting specimens of life under Roman and Moorish rule. There is not a great deal of the castle left. It was once very large.

The rooms open to the public in the castle, though few, are furnished with well preserved books and artefacts, and give a feel of comfort and culture.
On a sunny day it's a pleasure to climb the steps for the view across the roof tops of the town, and of course it's a photo opportunity for your album!
PS - when we visited entry was free as it was World Heritage Day; excellent!
