Description: Welcome to Café Inglês, Silves - Algarve Probably the most charismatic place throughout the Algarve and some even say in all Portugal ... Situated in the heart of historic Silves, between the castle and IbnAl-Mutamid-Amar and a gorgeous Gothic cathedral, the Café Inglês, built by a renowned figure in the city, is housed in a striking building of oriental inspiration which refers to the final nineteenth century. Café Inglês is more than a place where you can enjoy a delicious meal or a nice drink in beautiful dining rooms or if time permits in its various terraces if you prefer. The Café Inglês is much more than that; is a warehouse of ideas, cultures where people are the key players in the music and the arts has always been our commitment, in fact held at regular quality events in various musical aspects ranging from jazz, Latin jazz, african, latin and Jam sessions that include instruments from around the world, among many others, presents new artists in painting, sculpture, photography and the decorative arts, Poetry nights that included the presence of famous names of Anglo-Saxon poetry: Simon Peter and Pagnal Hermitage, which also involved local poets. Everything happens in an informal and relaxed environment, but always classy, where the pleasure of eating is combined with entertainment and PT culture...

Friendly cafe serving good food just outside the walls of Silves castle. Definitely a nice place to chat and eat whilst recovering from your exertions or considering the next adventure!

We had delicious salads and a nice cover with bread, butter, sardine pate & olives.
Very pleasant terrace and a large indoor room too with cakes that looked delicious although I didn't get a chance to taste them unfortunately ! Friendly service also.
A little downside - if you have dogs watch out there is broken glass in between the floor cobbles outside on the terrace, just something to look out for.

Great vibe about this place, lots of seating both inside and out, almost adjacent to the castle entrance. Friendly helpful staff, but the real star was the food! Dishes of the day were Lamb Tagine, and Cod in a sauce. The pizzas also looked good. My Lamb Tagine was magnificent. Lovely, lean pieces of lamb, and a wonderful sauce, with various vegetables in the dish, and a blob of mash on the top!! We all enjoyed our meals, and the excellent house white wine. Will definitely be back!

We visited Silves castle; we needed a light lunch; Cafe Ingles has everything we could have wanted and more. We ate mushroom soup and vegetable canelone in the open air under the jacaranda tree. The staff were very helpful; the order was taken quickly; the food arrived promptly, hot and well cooked. We would have loved dessert but we were well lunched. We would recommend this cafe to anyone without hesitation.

Mushroom soup was good and home made style.very good portion, sorry no picture as I was too keen.
Cheesy garlic bread was good along with a helpful beer. Ask for bottled as nicer than the draft.
