The apartment is spacious and well equipped. It is clean and nicely furnished but quite dark inside. It is a pleasant and quiet location, and there is a small supermarket and some restaurants 5 minutes walk away. There is 1 double bed and the other beds are bunk beds. So make sure any 3rd or more person is OK about sleeping in a child-sized bed; anyone tall or large might be uncomfortable.
There is a shared garden where it is possible to sun-bathe, but it is not a private area suitable for eating out of doors etc.
The apartment is described as having a 'shared pool'. This is not strictly the case. There is a public pool along by the river - at least 15 minutes walk away, and there is a private health/sports club next to the apartment, but for which some kind of subscription would need to be taken out to use the pool there.
There is a washing machine in the apartment but nothing to hang clothes on to dry - easy to remedy.
One drawback was the internet service - which is from a 'hotspot' and is available to purchase for the days you require (about 12 Euro for 5 days) but we found the reception inside the apartment was poor and kept disconnecting - a dedicated internet service installed in the apartment would be a great improvement.
We saw there was a bus service from nearby but didn't get to use it, preferring to walk to town. Coimbra town centre is about 20 minutes walk away, across a footbridge. It is a pleasant walk, but this distance should also be taken into account if you are looking for everything to be on your doorstep. We did not walk back at late at night but a taxi from outside the station takes 5 minutes and costs about 5 Euro. The taxi service is good.
