A lot of golfers use this hotel but otherwise it was fine! Seriously though, we don't quite think it is a true 5star hotel but it looks very regal! I liked looking at all the famous/royal photographs along the wall to the breakfast room.
It is near the train station so it is easy to travel into Lisbon or Cascais.
The breakfast and service was very good indeed but we can't comment on their Bougainvillea restaurant as although we waited for quite a time, we never actually got served! The majority of the staff didn't seem to be very well trained, there was only a few older staff who knew what to do. In the breakfast room we kept having to swap chairs as many of them were broken, maybe they were 1930 originals!
The chambermaids worked hard on our floor, our room was always cleaned well. The bed was very comfortable and the room very large. I was impressed with the bathroom. We had to ask for chairs for our balcony which took two days to arrive but otherwise we didn't have any problems.
The pool service was ok, but it seemed strange they didn't have any soda so one couldn't have a white wine spritzer. The bar service was ok as long as the experienced staff were on duty, otherwise you'd get served the wrong drink.
The grounds were well kept. We didn't try the spa or The Four Seasons Restaurant. We enjoyed our stay.
