Owner description: A trip to Lisbon is not complete without a visit to one of its famous open-air markets, including one of the most popular called Feira da Ladra or "Thieves Market," which offers a little bit of everything.

I can see the attraction of the market if you are looking for used daily goods at a low price. For the most part this is one big garage sale .
However taking in the crowd and the activity is fascinating.
If you are going to visit the National Parthenon do it on a day when the market is on and take in the activity.
Generally a cool area to poke around in especially on a Saturday.

When in Lisbon be sure to visit the Thieves' Market where you can find everything from local crafts such as cork goods (so much cheaper than in the shops) to bric-a-brac and collectables. The walk from Central Lisbon is a bit hilly, but worth it to see a different part of the city.

We love to find flea markets and antique stores when we visit places, so were excited to go to this. It was nothing but absolute junk with a whole lot of creepy sketchy looking characters walking around. I'm sure this was a treasure at some point, but the area's residents can't be happy about what it has become. Skip it!

It’s just behind Pantheon. I think better to go there in the morning or not later than 3pm. When we finished walking around at 2pm, some stands were closing. There are some antic stuff too but mostly 2. hand old and even rubbish look like things. There are also some stand for souvenir stuff. If you don’t see this flea market, you don’t lose much but if you have time and you like flea markets, it’s worth to have stroll. Make sure to keep your wallet etc under your control. There are some places in front of the park to have lunch.

The flea market is less than ten minutes on foot from the metro station Santa Apolonia. Upwards, but really not difficult if you are fairly fit. On Tuesday morning around 10:30 the market was in full swing, all kinds of merchandise varying from rubbish to some lovely ceramic tiles, brass and copper. Not many tourists, which was a plus. Bought some old transferware and a few other things, chatted with sellers and had coffee in a nearby cafe, great for observing the locals. We didn't find it dodgy at all and enjoyed it very much.
