I really hate to leave a review like this, but hope it helps someone. I have traveled the world (50+ countries), including some in developing countries where hygiene leaves a lot to be desired. Anyway, tasty seafood, don’t get me wrong. But we had crab & super expensive lobster...and then one of us got food poisoning a few hours later, starting at 3am. We had to cancel our Sintra tour the next day. Not what we expected at 70 euros pp.!! Just 2 dishes, bread (not free) and an inexpensive bottle of wine. We also had a 45 minute wait, even after calling them and being told no reservations but we would get in a few minutes.. but it was lively and we didn’t mind it. Mix of tourists and locals. Finally, there is nothing on the menu like veggies or salad. Just big plates of seafood and bread, in case anyone was looking for a complete meal. So, anyway, we were disappointed with it overall, the morning after.

This is a landmark of Lisbon, some think that it is touristic, but I don’t agree, the service is superb, the food is great and the place is authentic my Portuguese .

Wow! Our last night in Lisbon ended on a very high note by eating at this great place. There were hundreds of people waiting for a table. Locals and tourists alike. They specialize in shellfish-- shrimp, clams, lobster, crab, prawns, etc. Fresh, like just caught fresh, or pulled out of the case alive fresh. Delicious. We had sizzling shrimp in garlic, oil, and hot pepper flakes, and clams in garlic broth. So good, with crunchy toasted bread served alongside the seafood.

This is a crazy busy, bustling place. Waiters are running all over the place. Frenetic and fun. We totally loved the experience.

You have to take a number, and the numbers are called seemingly at random (not in order). You sit or stand outside or on the covered front patio, waiting for your number to be called. You write down your language and party size, and when your number is up, your number is announced on an intercom in the language you select. You can drink cups of beer while you wait--they have a spigot outside on the patio, you place euros in, and beer is then dispensed.

Definitely two thumbs up !!

You should go there maximum by 6.30pm if you want to wait for only a hour and half, otherwise it's almost impossible to get in.
Fish and seafood are amazing, fresh and tasty. We got a small bottle of wine, clams, tiger prawns and garlic shrimps for only 66 euro in total.
However, they don't have sides in the menu, like vegetables, chips or salad. It would be good to eat fish with a side, to have a proper complete meal.

Amazingly fresh seafood. It's pretty much all they have but done oh so well! Had the oysters, clams and King prawn and everything was absolutely delicious! This place is supposed to be a Lisboa institution and not hard to see why. Always busy but didn't have to wait too long.
