If you want to experience the charm of the old part of Lisbon this is the place to stay, perfect for a couple , but we made do perfectly as we can adapt to 3 people , do consider this place if you are a traveller who wants a clean place with kitchen for basics . Andreia did supply some basics with all utensils, bathroom accessories and a nice touch, a bottle of wine, the free tour guides even stopped outside the Studio to highlight a typical apartment of old town Alfama....with a wonderful cake/coffee place very close by awesome Portuguese tarts ,down the road hop into the 7 floor escalator and at the bottom floor is a huge supermarket, cheap eats between 6-8 euros per main dish which leaves you exteamely satisfied , what more can I say , loved the place, small but for my type of travel who wants to explore and just chill out at night PERFECT, Andreia is also the most wonderful host will help out any way she can
Andreia was an excellent host. She provided many different city maps and things to do around Lisbon. The apartment is located only a short walk from the castle and the historic Alfama district. The place itself was perfect for 1-2 people: small living room, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. My only complaints were that the hot water in the shower became cold after only 3 minutes and there did not appear to be a way to change the air temperature in the apartment, so it was a bit chilly. Overall, my stay was great though.
This apartment is cosy and compact (i.e. small) but had everything we needed for a great stay in Lisbon. The location is fantastic - right below the castle. The climb up from the lower part of the city is not gentle, but the views are worth the effort and you can always reward yourself in the cake shop on the corner.
Andreia, the owner provided plenty of information ahead of our arrival, and was always available (WhatsApp or email) if we needed anything. We didn't.
A few tips...
Lisbon pavements and streets are all cobbled and if you are tossing up between bringing a wheeled-case or a rucksack, the rucksack is the sensible choice.
Don't wait until the last morning (like we did) to find the public lift that cuts out a fair bit of the climb. The bottom is located right by a supermarket, which we also didn't find until we were leaving! In many ways, that's the beauty of Lisbon - there is something hidden around every corner.
Finally, we went to the same restaurant three times! The seafood stew at Santa Rita Restaurant is amazing.
The apartment is in a perfect location within sight of the castle in the Alfama district of Lisbon with the river close by. There are little convenience stores and restaurants round the corner and a supermarket is about 10 mins away. You can walk to the Castle and some of the main squares where you can get trams, taxis or the train. Public transport is integrated and cheap, especially with a 'zap' card and metered taxis much cheaper than the UK.
The apartment is small but has everything you need. The kitchen has an induction hob, micowave and fridge. The bathroom is tiny but the shower is good. Beside the double bed in the bedroom, the sofa bed in the living area is comfortable and easy to convert.
We found Andreia to be an excellent host. She sent us lots of useful info so we could settle in quickly when we arrived. When we did have a problem she responded immediately and the matter was resolved within the hour. I made a couple of suggestions after our visit which she took up straight away. The impression we got was that Andreia wants her guests to enjoy holidaying at her apartment and will do everything she can to ensure that this is so. Thank you Andreia.
