Owner description: The National Palace of Sintra, located in the historic town centre, was inhabited for nearly eight centuries by the Portuguese monarchy and its court. It was much used, particularly during the Middle Ages, as a hunting retreat and as a refuge from outbreaks of disease in the capital, or as a summer resort, thanks to the town's more agreeable climate.

Sintra us an amazing location 30 Km away from Lisbon that you shouldn't miss.
This building is amazing, specialty for it's chemmenies, surely originated by it's tile manucturing facilities.
Must visit.

Thank Eduard X

We got in as the Palace was opening so got some of the rooms completely to ourselves, which made it quite special. We’ve been to a lot of historic houses but this is different and definitely worthwhile.

One of the most spectacular places that I've ever seen that I had never heard of before! I plan to go back and spend time in the town at the base of Sintra and see all of the sights in the area.

Take a train from Rosso to Sintra , which goes from the main train station which is in Rosso . Two way ticket to Rosso to Sintra and back will cost 3.00 euro . It would take 45 minutes to reach there .. When you reach the main Sintra station . There will be a huge overattack of buses and tour guides who would ask you to join them.
As for us , we took a bus which was a hop on hop off which was 12.50 euro for the entire day . Take note that the bus would only run till 6 pm or maybe 7 pm...
Remember to go early so that you could enjoy most.
We went up to palace of Pena and the park which cost us around 14 ish euro each.
And later took the bus to go the Cabo de Roca lighthouse.

Point to note: Go as early as possible to see more and better take all day bus ticket rather than paying a single ticket to anyplace that which would be 5 ish euro...

Enjoy the area of Sintra..
