Some of the bends and where cars 'forgot' to stop for the red lights or owners left car doors open, made this even more fun on the way down! (very squeaky brakes!). Even more so as we sat at the front where the drivers stand. We were there at the end of the season so it was a bit more chilly, and there was nothing open at the coastal end, so we just got right back on and came back to Sintra. It was all about the tram journey for us. Highly recommend.

A day out with a return trip on the tram, built in Rugby, Great Britain - when we did beautiful things like that
Reversible seats, a bit hard but the journey worth it, on one way we joined a party of OAP's from Lisbon on a day out and felt at home with their chat joking face pulling although we didn't understand a word!

This is a lovely way to get to the coast and see the countryside. Old tram very quaint. You must but a ticket from the office at Sintra you can not buy a ticket on the Tram. However you need to buy a return ticket when at the destination, this you buy on the tram so you can not book the return time, be wary if tram is full get there early if looking busy otherwise you will not travel. We took the trip all the way to the coast, spent some time wandering the some lunch plenty of restaurants. Nice way to spend half a day. Another tip, just before you reach the Sintra tram stop there is an old fruit/veg market well worth a look. Not at all tourist in this part of town, refreshing to see this.

Leave the Car, settle in as comfy as possible for an old tram and enjoy the whole ride what can only be described in parts as a mirror something out of green rolling hills of Africa.

The tram goes along the main road to the beach. Buy tickets at Vila Alda - Casa do Eléctrico de Sintra. Have small bills since they don't have much change.
