Took this trip booked at my hotel for same price direct. Had checked weather forecast to choose day and it turned out correct. You need a good day for this trip but also check the wind speed and strength as you are crossing the N. Atlantic Ocean to get to this idyllic little island.
However as to the ship.....it was reasonably large for a ferry and had plenty of options for seating and eating! You could upgrade to 1st. Class for €12 each way but unless it is busy couldn’t see the advantage. The staff I spoke to were pleasant and helpful and spoke excellent English. The two and a half hours soon went by and as I got off one of the staff offered three options! 1) Walk the 2km into town. 2) Get the service bus for €1 or
3) Go on a full tour of the island stopping at various point for visits or photo opps. This I chose at €15 excellent value!
I recommend this trip wholeheartedly.

Very nice boat with all facilities, shop and relaxing places, a bit expensive but then again its a big boat and journey took around 2.5 hours.

Day trip to Porto Santo by ship, leaves Funchal at 8am prompt. Passengers should be on board half an hour before. We bought our tickets that included transfers to and from our hotel at 65 Euros each but "walk on return price" about 45 Euros each. Glad we paid extra, ship returns to Funchal around 8.30 pm and it is a long day but worth it.
Ship itself isnfine, agree with comments about dirty windows but everyone has a seat...meaning that there is a lounge witht tables and cnairs, aircraft style seats, seating on deck and, if you pay about 12 Euros extra, there's a first class lounge. Facilities on board are typical of a ferry. Help yourself cafe, a couple of bars, a restaurant and a cinema. Croxsing takes about 2.5 hours from boarding to leaving.
Lots to see and do in Porto Santo. We hired a taxi from the port for a 2 hour trip round the island. Some magnificent views and beach is beautiful.
This day trip is a day well spent. Weather for us was sunshine all day but apparently was raining in Funchal.

We used "Lobo Marinho" for a day-trip to Porto Santo on our last day in Madeira. Embarkation and disembarkation of the passengers and the vehicles was well organised both in Funchal and in Porto Santo and there was no delay. As it was a spontaneous last-minute decision to make that trip, we neither made a proper preliminary research nor read any reviews. So, we bought tickets for the "tourist class". The ride was comfortable, the ships has a lot of facilities - small shops, a restaurant, several coffee shop, a cinema, kids' playing area. Can't comment on the staff and facilities (except the shop and the toilets - kind shop-assistant and clean toilets which are not that clean at the end of the trip) because we spent most of the 2.5 hours trip sleeping as we had to come early from Machico. The prices are reasonable in my opinion, and if you take your car on the ferry you can buy a combo pack which gives you about 100 € discount depending on the number of passengers.
They also offer a pick-up from a number of hotels in Funchal and you can pre-book a day tour on Porto Santo instead of making your own itinerary for the limited time you will have. If you come by car to the ferry port but you don't intend to take it with you, there is a convenient underground parking nearby, just beneath Ronaldo's hotel/museum, 6 € per day. Enjoy the trip!
