The Areos is pleasant, quiet and clean. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast is very good. The hotel is a good value as long as you want to stay in the neighborhood called Exarchia, which is about a kilometer from the main tourist areas near the Acropolis For me, the hotel location is an asset -- Exarchia is full of intellectuals, anarchists and coffee houses. It is unlike any neighborhood I have visited any where -- safe but a little gritty (which is like most of Athens actually). The hotel is also very near the Archaeological Museum, a major shopping district and a metro station. If you prefer touristic charm, you will pay about three times as much in Plaka..
