Though I’m a professional crime novels writer, I find it very hard to express how enchanted we were by Kyma Apartment no. 8 in Athens. It has only pluses – with no minuses at all! Besides, normally, I’m a rather possessive person and I would like to hide this Gem from the rest of the world for me exclusively, yet I can understand this business requirements… :)
The Apartment is located in the centre of Athens. You may easily walk, or stroll even, to the Olympeion, the Hadrian’s Gate, the Pnyx Hill, to the Acropoli Hill, to the Museum of Acropoli, the Lysicrates Monument, to Plaka. If you’d like to go further – after all, Athens is a huge capital city – the tram stop is visible from the Apartment’s window and the metro station is ca. 600 m, or one tram stop, from the door. The closest supermarket is ca. 300 m away.
The Apartment has obviously been fully renovated recently. It is white, clean, fresh and very cosy. The kitchen is equipped so perfectly, that my Mum could prepare a 2-course dinner and I baked an apple-pie once! A fridge, an oven and a cooker; a kettle, a coffeemaker. What’s more, on your arrival you’ll find most of ingredients an average kitchen usually has: rice, pasta, peas, beans, some spice, salt, pepper, tea, coffee, sugar…
The bathroom is sterile clean, with a bottle of shampoo, shower gel, soap and air freshener.
The room is quite spacious, with a TV-set, bed, additional sofa, a wardrobe, coffee table and a desk. You’ll find towels, additional sheet, a blanket and additional pillows in the wardrobe. There are also cleaning tools, though you are also regularly visited by a professional cleaning lady.
The owner is not only very hospitable, but on your arrival he’ll also give you a lot of very useful information about where to go and what to do in Athens. He also brought a pile of maps, brochures, magazines and info-sheets with practical hints to spend the best of your time in this beautiful, history-abundant city. He is friendly, hospitable, speaks perfect English and palpably tries to give you the world! True, it is useful for you if you are interested in Greek history, if you admire and love it, but then again – who on Earth doesn’t love Greece…?!
We have been to almost 40 holiday destinations so far, stayed in hotels, hostels and apartments. Of all of that, Kyma Apartment is a total Number 1, with the second place being at least five ranks away!
If God allows, we’ll come back to Athina as soon as possible. And it won’t be just another holiday trip. It will be like going back to a Friend, a very close Family Member. It will be like going back Home… :)
