This lovely and historic part of Athens is a wonderful place to walk around absorbing history, culture, Greek cuisine and shopping. There is even a street full of Greek Orthodox Church things.

The Plaka is a very vibrant area of Athens but I would be cautious at night here. Parts feel slightly sketchy with lots of graffiti and many people milling about. Very fun and interesting during the day with lots to see, some shops are cheesy touristy shops but there are gems to be found.

A lively area with only foot traffic that is perfect for the tourist to get custom made silver jewelry, tee shirts, and a variety of interesting Greek made souvenirs. (Like a flowered phallus to hang on your Christmas tree....). A great place to visit both in the daytime and the evening. Such friendly shopkeepers also.

Hectic, crowded Plaka is a great district to feel good in Athens. Beautiful views for the whole Akropolis complex, small shops with souvenirs and a lot of Greek restaurants with amazing wines and local dishes made out of fresh vegetables. It is good to be there at the sunset, especially parts which are located above.

This is a tourist area and you pay the price but many nice restaurants and bars.
Nice to sitt out in the streets and look at the people when eating/drinking
