We selected this hotel based on its proximity to public transportation and the sites we wanted to visit during our overnight stay in Athens. Reception staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, our room was large, very clean and comfortable. The shower was amazing! Added bonuses included air conditioning, WiFi and, for a small fee, breakfast on the 5th floor terrace with an amazing view of the Acropolis.

Room Tip: Request a room with a view of the Acropolis.

Me and my friends spent few days in Santorini and only had one night to spend in Athens. We have chosen the perfect place to stay, Hotel Metropolis as it is in the best location in Plaka.
We were welcomed by a very charming and friendly Mr. Thomas. After our delayed flight from Santorini we were so tired but we felt good reaching our hotel as we were welcomed in a friendly way and a very beautiful and clean room was waiting for us ... plus with a terrace offering the best view of Acropolis.. wow!!!
The hotel has a very cute but very functional elevator that brought us up to our room on the 5th floor.
The room was perfect with 3 beds for me and my friends, the temperature of the aircon was very good plus the shower was super.
Mr Thomas suggested us the place to eat, it was almost midnight and we wete worried that there will be no decent place to eat, we were so happy as there were around the area and we still managed to have a very good greek food.
The hotel rooms quiet, we had a very good sleep.
This place is the best place to stay not just because of the location but of the very good and accommodating staff plus the comfortable rooms.
Walking distance to restaurants, shops and metro station and in front of the beautiful church, plus you can have a good view of Acropolis from your terrace.
We highly suggest this hotel when you visit Athens. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit.
Thank you Mr Thomas!!!

Perfect location next to the Metropoleos cathedral. Many rooms with Acropolis view. Very good Rooftop breakfast with Acropolis view. Rooms are well appointed, bathrooms recently renewed. Next time in Athens I will definitely stay here.

Room Tip: Here you can get Acropolis view at a fraction of the price at the big hotels.

Location is the best part of this hotel. Their 3 person room was pretty small for 3 people, but it was a clean place to put our heads down at night. Very hard to fall asleep with all of the street noise. There is a loud city clock that chimes every single hour, and you hear it even when windows are closed. You also hear bar hoppers yelling in the street even on a Monday night. Pack earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

Main negative thing I could say is that the bald Greek guy at reception gave us bad advice when we asked how late the Acropolis was open. There were two men at reception, one who was a bit darker in complexion, charming, and spoke great English told us 8 PM, but his colleague, the lackadaisical Greek guy, told us it was open late in the evening for the week because of the full-moon festival. We made the mistake of listening to the Greek guy (since he was so sure of himself when he spoke). We showed up at 7:45 PM, and it was already closed. We were very upset because we only stayed one day in Athens before our flight home and wanted to do this.

Word of advice while staying here---I should have taken Anthony Bourdain's advice: Never listen to the front desk person/concierge for restaurant recommendations or info on where to go. You gotta do your own due diligence with these tourist attractions to find the best prices, and hours of operation!

Woman who was working at the front desk in the early AM was very helpful and so was the English speaking gentleman. Steer clear of the bald Greek guy for advice- :)

We stayed for 2 nights in July. Staff are very helpful, gave great advice about where to eat and allowed us to store our baggage after we had checked out. Easy walking distance of the Acropolis, markets and restaurants. Breakfast served on a rooftop terrace with top views of the Parthenon and you can take food and drink up there during the day. Rooms are small but clean and well appointed. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs to block out the local church bells at night. Overall great value.
