Villa Venezia

This small, low-priced hotel is situated above a restaurant right on the Venetian Harbour. If you want the most amazing view to wake up from, a comfortable bed in a quirky 500-year-old building, then you will love it. Natasha runs the place with great attention to detail. We stayed for one night, en route to Western Crete. Would recommend for its location, atmosphere and views. The bus from the airport dropped us about a five minute walk from the hotel, which is on the pedestrianised harbour walk.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view over the stunning harbour

Villa Venezia has the unbeatable central location at the Venetian Port, you must get a seaview room, the view is absolutely stunning, I could just lie in the bed watching the glow of sunrise and sunset reflecting to the buildings from two sides of port, truly amazing. Given this is a building over 450 years, the room size is not really big and not some fancy decoration, however the room is equipped with the basic facilities which is enough for me, and clean also.
In addition, the lady at the reception(I am so sorry that I forgot her name, she is a Russian living in Greece over 15years and speaks very well English), she is so nice and helped me with luggage to the top of the floor through tiny steep wooden stairs, she gave lots of information about Chania and kept checking on me whether I m ok or need anything else. She is so great!

The owners contacted us prior to our booking to find out when we'd be arriving. They were there when we arrived and checked us in quickly. The room was very small but adequate. We arrived late at night so we got straight out and explored the town. We fell in love with Chania almost immediately. We were awoken the next morning by the daylight coming through the curtains and we soon realised what lay behind them.....what has to be one of the most incredible seafront views from any hotel in the world ever..including those in Dubrovnik. The harbour is just absolutely stunning and to wake up and look out at that was mind blowing. The apartment itself offered everything we needed (air con, strong wifi signal). Also they have a deal with the cafe next door so you can get a full English breakfast for 5 euros each and it's worth paying because you can sit out and enjoy the view whilst you eat. The best part of Chania lays behind the apartment in the old town. The food in the restaurants is better quality and value and no-one heckles you to come in, unlike on the harbour. I don't know why restaurent owners have to do this because it's obvious the ones that don't are busiest.

On checkout we told the lady who manages the apartment that we had a hire car to pick up and we asked for directions. She told us it was a 20 minute walk and therefore she could get them to bring the car to us. We had no idea that was possible but she phoned them up and within an hour the car was waiting at the Harbour for us (Sunny Car Rental) .

We can't wait to return to Chania next year but we'll probably go in Spring when it's slightly cooler as we like to do a lot of walking in the day and that's hard work when it's 35C! However it's not hard work laying on a beach (15 minute walk from the apartment) and sea bathing in that temperature!

Room Tip: A sea view room is an absolute must!

Excellent value for money!! This hotel is right in the heart of the old harbour and our room had the most amazing view! We got free wifi and were able to check in the moment we got there! Simple accommodation but at a great price!

excellent location and amazing view of the old harbour. we booked our room two days before travelling, in an affordable price (about 35€/ night at the 20th of august).
average room, kind of noisy, not very clean but acceptable for its price.

Room Tip: ask for a room with view
