We have a bit mixed feelings about our stay at the Villa Venezia. The service was friendly, the wifi was working well, the hotel is conveniently located and the old Venetian harbour is really beautiful. On the other hand the room was a bit run down, the shower very small, the room very cold and the window shutters were causing some trouble. It was stormy weather so the locks on the window shutters broke down in the middle of the night. The room was very big so it didn't get warm during our stay. It is impossible to reach the hotel by car.

Amazing view, amazing location It is an old historic building but it is very clean and quaint, and the people very friendly. We could sit and look out at the activities that were happening at any time of the day or night or pop in and out for short walks or take a seat by the water. You really get to experience the old harbor experience being part of the area. There is a delightful cat that has a mat at the entrance into the back alley. Please step over the cat, it is part of the charm and adventure of exploring the streets behind the hotel! Understand this is not a stylish hotel but certainly clean and comes with history.

Room Tip: we had 3rd fl no balcony. Bathroom small, the tub is a conversation piece. The 2nd floor room has a balcony.

We booked this hotel only looking for a bed to sleep in that was close to everything.
Our expectations were very low since we had read some poor reviews both on TripAdvisor and booking.com. But we were very surprised at the overall experience! I think the hostess is the most service minded and kindest person I've met at any hotel I've ever stayed in. The beds are harder than what we're used to, but very comfortable. You can hear some noise from the street outside, but it would be unrealistic to expect a completely quiet room at such a busy street. The only complaint I can think of would be that the door to the bathroom is very noisy. (I really liked the shower though, it was shaped kind of like a chair so if you wanted to you could sit comfortably while showering. )
Overall a fantastic experience!

We booked Hotel Venezzia Villa because of its affordability in such a prime location. A sea view room overlooking the Harbour as well as being in the centre of everything, makes the location ideal. Natalia was very welcoming and even carried our one 'large' suitcase up two flights of steep staircases.
The room we had was a double with sea view. It was compact but functional and was exactly what we were expecting from previous reviews. Linen and towels were provided every day.
We only tried the breakfast at the local restaurant once. It was acceptable but a 10% discount (which our waitress didn't apply) on a €7 breakfast wasn't going to make us rush back. In hindsight it was a simple error in that one person took our order and another prepared the bill. On our first morning we weren't going to be picky over such a relatively small amount. The food was good though and had no bearing on us not returning.
We had read reviews complaining about the restaurant staff below the hotel. As there is a rear entrance we always used that to avoid being hassled as soon as you step outside of the hotel. The pushiest staff outside these restaurants seem to be the quietest, don't they realise they drive people away and many simply avoid the area? Clearly not.
Overall an unforgettable experience in a truly amazing place.

Fine room but particularly impressed by Natasha, the manager. Extremely helping with advice and organisation of all things Chania and Western Crete. Her willingness to put time into bookings and directions was very impressive
