Our stay in the cave house in Exo Gonia was special...Panos went over & beyond to making it an unforgettable vacation...we cannot thank you enough! Our favorite restaurant a few steps away "Metaxy Mas" incredible food and wonderful service! Thanks, Sarah for getting back promptly with questions to be answered... again thanks, Panos for making it a magical time!!

We stayed at Cave house Helios last year and loved it so much we came back again this year. The house was just a great as we remember it. Ideally located to get to all parts of the island, although we mainly just wanted to relax on the beautiful terrace with a cold drink, dipping in and out of the pool. On the days we did venture out, we were grateful to come back to the tranquillity of our home from home. Breathtaking views, beautifully maintained gardens, spotlessly cleaned with everything you could need. The house manager was different this year, but we could not have asked for a better host, attentive and on hand when needed but giving privacy too.He cleaned the pool every day before we woke up so it was always ready for a dip in the morning. We made use of the BBQ a couple of times- just perfect. A big thank you to Panos and Sarah. See you next year!!
We stayed for a week in Cavern House Helios in June and only wish it could've been for longer! The cave house is stunning, beautifully decorated and we really felt like we had our own hidden gem in Santorini. Panos the house manager was the perfect host, he met us on arrival and explained everything we needed or wanted to know about the house and island, we always knew he was on hand and only a phone call away if we had any issues during our stay. Panos stocked the kitchen up with some food, drink (lovely white wine) and fresh bread to get us by until we could get to the supermarket (by quad the supermarket was only a few minutes away) and every other day he would deliver fresh bread which was a lovely touch. The house is a fab location, we hired a quad bike to get around and explore the island however loved coming back to relax at this hidden little gem of a cave house. We would highly recommend the restaurant Metaxi Mas which is only 1-2 minute walk from the house and is argued to be the best restaurant on the island and we would definately agree, the food, service and location were brilliant! We would definately love to return to Cavern House Helios, it was the perfect spot for us to explore Santorini and we also loved the cave house itself - perfect for relaxing, sunbathing, having a bbq and drinking some of the fab Santorini wine that we discovered! We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in Santorini, whilst its not in Thira or Oia, we didn't feel like we missed out on anything on the Island as we managed to get around (We did an island tour, boat excursion to hot springs, red beach and sunset and a wine tour) but also had the perk of returning back to this stunning gem of a property.
We stayed in Helios whilst in Santorini for a friends wedding. We found the whole experience most enjoyable. We were met on arrival and taking back to this very traditional and attractive apartment. Our 2 young children (1yr &3yrs) were intrigued by this 'cave' and took a particular liking to the 2 resident cats who would visit daily. (Sure they would have smuggled them back to uk if they could)
The whole process from start to finish was easy, we were well informed. The island itself is beautiful and we were able to get around most parts. Hired a rented car through Avis and ended up with new merc A class which was a great result. Exo Genoa is a great location for getting around. Highlights were perissa and oia.
Must check out Metaximas which is a restaurant within a 3 min walk.
Would recommend this apartment but would probably return to santorini without the kids nxt time!
From searching for a holiday rental in Santorini for a family wedding we came across this property on several sites. I contacted the owner directly and she came back to me almost immediately. I cannot fault the booking process and communication by text and email was excellent. We were met at the airport by Julian and driven to our accommodation. I was excited to see the property and Iro the villa manager was extremely welcoming and showed us around with great care, offering great tips about the area and supplying her english mobile number which made it very easy to contact her. The property itself is nestled into the hillside and you would have to be mobile if considering staying here as it has many steps and steep hills. It is well equipped with a well stocked kitchen and a great selection of local wine , beer and bubbly was provided, which was a lovely touch. The bedrooms are all cave like in the rock face, tastefully decorated and complete with air con and fans. There are two shower rooms with toilets and you soon get used to the fact that no paper products can be flushed away so bin is provided. The information pack that has been put together is excellent and so useful. We booked a hire car from Sarah the owner whilst in the UK and i would say this is a must. They deliver it to you and pick up when you leave. you need to pay cash though. The WiFi works well in the living room and courtyard , but once in bed in the cave signal is lost. The sun deck pool terrace is accessed up some very steep steps but you soon get used to them. The pool is small and water cold, but very welcoming after sunning yourself. The terrace gets the sun in the morning up until early afternoon, so if you like to sunbathe plan accordingly. The Metaxy Mas Tavern is a five minute walk away from the property and had been recommended by Sarah the owner and she had made a booking for the first evening ( this is a must as without booking you may not get a table) and all I can say is WOW great food, location and such friendly staff. There are specials every night and the menu is not large but has just enough of a selection. Once seated you are given cheese olives and bread cubes and my particular favorite Ice cold Raki which gives you perfect time to select your dishes. There were five in our party so between us we sampled most of the menu and everything was excellent. To finish the taverna brings out sharing deserts on the house, the cheesecake is divine!. A meal for 5 with plenty of wine and beer will set you back about 120-150 euro just as a guide. Top tip do book again as you leave to ensure a table if you wish to eat there again.
There is a well stocked supermarket and bakery five minutes away by car so its easy to get supplies. The tap water is fine to wash in and clean teeth but you will need bottled water. We booked a traditional boat tour through Iro the manager and can highly recommend this a a day trip. we were taken to the volcano, then on to the hot springs for a swim and then on to Therasia where we had lunch. I would recommend seeing Santorini from the sea as it gives a different perspective. We visited OIA pronounced EAR a must in my opinion picture perfect views and architecture. It was busy in Oct so I can imagine in the height of the season it could be very busy. Well I hope this gives you all a taste of what to expect if you book to stay at Helios and visit Santorini and before I forget I must mention the CATS who we have called Itchy and Scratchy ( think Simpsons) that seem to live around the property, They are very friendly and two all black brothers, They love to bask in the sun but they are not allowed inside, and they do try at times but it is not too difficult to stop them. We did not feed them either as they looked well cared for and it is best not to encourage them either. To Sarah and Iro thank you we loved our stay and your Island.
