“One of the most beautiful island villages”
Review of Chora Patmos

Despite the tourism, Chora still stays a beautiful island village. Most of the house have kept their character, the arcades, the streets, the paths, the churches, the view from all sides of it... you can walk for hours and shoot hundreds of photos. I strongly recommend visiting it as well as visiting the Monastery of St. John.

The city as a fairy tale ... beautiful narrow streets in which you can be lost but also found, I recommend to anyone who loves the past and travel through time ...

It's a bit of a steep climb to get to the Chora, but the view makes it worthwhile. It's also the way to the Monastery. There a several restaurants and a gift shop. The streets are very narrow, mainly used by people and motor bikes.

We LOVED Chora-- it's like stepping back in time. Beautiful scenery, classic architecture, incredible food. IT has a vibe and feeling so special to Patmos. Don't tell too many people about it!

We found Chora to be fascinating and easily got lost in the maze of narrow white streets. We were there in the morning when no cruise ships are about and would recommend that as the best time to go if you want a quiet visit. On the down side, many of the shops and businesses were not open. We found a place to eat (estiatorion minoi I think it was called) and would strongly advise anyone not to go there. The waitress was somewhat rude and terse (to put it mildly) and they rip you off for 2 euros for a small bottle of water. We were disappointed to see that behaviour pretty much next door to the monastery, and would not be in a hurry to return to Chora for that reason.
