I was there from 14th to 17th April 2017. We decided to go to Lefkada for the Easter holiday.
Environment - it is a complex of 2 store houses, some of them apartments of a living room with kitchenette and a bedroom, others only studios. Everywhere it is green, with plenty of trees, flowers and paved alleys. In the morning you wake up from the birds singing and the calls of the roosters in the nearby houses.
Very relaxing, with a restaurant, church and 2 swimming pools. We were there in April so it wasn't warm enough to swim.
It is surrounded by big yards with olive and lemon trees, houses and other hotels. 20 minutes slow walk to a wild beach with sand. I liked the beaches, unlike Porto Katziki and other advertised beaches this one is with sand and shallow water, not pebbles.
Rooms - We were staying in an apartment. It had a bathroom with a shower stall, a decent size living room with built in kitchen and a bedroom. In front of the bedroom there was a patio with a table and 4 chairs, as well as a clothes dryer for the wet swimming suits and towels.
Tile floors and new furniture. Ceramic cooking top.
We were in suite 28, on the first floor with a wonderful view to the swimming pool and restaurant.
The positive is that you can make your salad and just relax. There is a fridge, cooking top and a furnace, fully equiped with cooking utensils and plates.
Very good stable pressure of the water in the bathroom and abundance of hot water.
The negative is that there is no soap in the kitchen, no shower hats or shampoo in the bathroom. Our soap dispenser in the bathroom sink was broken and wasn't fixed till the end of our stay. But I suppose that around Easter it isn't easy to find a new one and repair it.
Hygiene - apartment was cleaned every day, beds made also daily. Bathroom was very clean and the towels and bed linens were relatively new and clean.
There are two big and two small towells. Small towells were changed on the third day.
The negative is that there is a smell of mold in the living room but it wasn't because it wasn't cleaned. The climate on the island is very wet with high humidity and we were there in the beginning of the season so the rooms weren't vented.
In the restaurant all utensils and linnens were very clean, no chipped plates or dirth anywhere.
Food - I am with mixed feelings for the food. The last day we and other people had terrible stomach problems and obviously something with the breakfast went wrong. Going to the toilet every 30 minutes while on the road really made a big bad impression from otherwise very positive stay in the hotel.
But aside from this the food wasn't bad. We were on half board with breakfast and dinner.
Breakfast - two types of bread, toaster bread and a machine to make your toasts, three types of pastries, croissants and cookies. There was also a cheese Greek pie called pita - very tasty.
Ham, sliced American type cheese, sausages, bacon, cereals, boiled eggs, milk, yoghurt and fruits. There was also baked beans for those who like English breakfast. Three types of tea and two types of juice.
Standart hotel coffee and tea. There is a bar where you can buy espresso - 2 euros, alcohol - 1 small ouzo is 2.5 euros or to order club sandwich - 4 euros.
For dinner there was on the first evening baked chiken and a meal of pork and vegetables, rice with vegetables, potatoes, sausages, two types of bread and a syrupy Greek dessert.
As a whole the dinners were mainly pork amd chicken with potatoes but were well made and we didn't expect French cuisine on a budget stay:)
The salads were amazingly tasty. Their version of Caesar salad was amazing: ) Tomatoes were also very good:)
For Easter we had a Greek dinner and free ouzo:)
Staff - very friendly and helpful. They were honestly trying to make a good impression especially with the Greek dinner and the Greek dancers that we really liked them.
I have traveled in other places in Greece - Athens, Crete, Kavala, Navplion, etc. and untill Lefkada my impression from the Greeks was that they believe working and serving foreigners is beneath them.
For the first time in Greece, here in Villagio Maistro I saw people that were working hard and throwing their hearths in what they were doing.
That's why I think the fallout with the stomach upset from the last day was not intentional.
Total - very relaxing and calming place, ideal for a quiet holiday on a budget stay. Will visit again:)
