Just returned from our third yearly stay at this beautiful villa.
Words cannot describe the breathtaking view that awaits you as you open the front door, each year we find it more beautiful.
This is a high standard well equipped villa which contains everything you can think of and more.
Beautiful fixtures and fitting inside and a fantastic infinity pool with that fabulous view, large barbie and lovely furniture outside.
Easy booking through Jill and Mark in the UK and Alan and Sally always on hand in Lefkada with their wealth of information.
We are always sad to leave this hidden gem. If you are looking for a holiday with peace and tranquility and yet with easy reach to lovely restaurants only 15 mins drive away, look no further. Lefkada is a wonderful island.
I cannot recommend this villa highly enough, and we will be returning.
Another cracking stay in this villa, in fact our 3rd stay. Read the guest book and you'll see that many people keep returning to this villa.
The high points - the pool, the view, the villa. The low points - as usual, none.
Clearly well maintained. Well designed.
We are very very very snobby and fussy. We holiday in all inclusive hotels round the world but return here because it's a great easy relaxing holiday in a great villa in a great location. Thanks to Jill, Mark, Alan and Sally.
Villa Georgios is just wonderful and Lefkas is beautiful. The villa is situated on a hillside with the most fabulous views over the sea and the islands to the south. So many photos were taken of that view. The sea is a fantastic blue and is added to by the wonderful infinity pool. We spent hours in the pool either swimming or just looking out over the edge at that scenery.
The villa itself is fantastic and very well laid out with a large central living area with a very well equipped kitchen and very comfortable lounge with leather sofas. It was clean and bright and the outside seating area was perfect in the evening for sitting with a glass of wine and admiring that previously mentioned view as the sun went down. The villa was the perfect size for our family of 5 with 3 big adult-sized teenagers who all like their own space.
The welcome pack was a nice touch. Sally and Alan were lovely and appeared early on to give us some useful advice and tips about places to visit. They responded very quickly to any queries and using Whatsapp to keep in touch was extremely handy.
The villa is perfectly situated to explore the southern half of the island, with Nidri only 15 minutes away if you want the hustle and bustle of the main street or the tavernas and bars by the sea. Vasiliki was also only 15 minutes away in the other direction for a quieter but pretty marina or the beach for fantastic watersports. There were other great beaches and bays nearby and the small but beautiful Sivota was even closer and very picturesque. Some of the beaches are stony and the sea gets deep very quickly but the water is beautiful, clear and warm.
I would suggest a 4x4 hire car as the road up to the villa is a little rough and rocky. Many of the locals have them. In a fully laden Passat, I managed to ground the car on several occasions despite being very careful. The rental car staff at the airport having told me that under surface damage to the car was not covered by any of their extra insurance policies, so that added a bit of fun to each journey!
All in all I cant say too much about this villa and the island of Lefkas. I almost want to keep it a secret!
The whole booking process with Jill was easy, straight forward and hassle free with good advice and very clear instructions particularly with the directions from the airport to the villa.
This has been our best family holiday and I still feel there is so much more to see and I would love to return to Lefkas and Villa Georgios.
Magnificent views to wake up to every morning, this modern, contemporary villa is the best equipped / furnished we have ever stayed in. The kitchens and bathrooms are superb. The organisation both in the U.K. and locally was faultless. Being able to walk to the local taverna was a bonus. Definitely going back.
We are very seasoned travellers and are always slightly wary of reviews that seem too good to be true but needn’t have worried.
The information supplied to get to the villa was great and it was lovely to stop at the appointed place on the other side of the village of Fterno as per the instructions and look up the hill and see the villa – just as it had been pictured.
Yes, the approach “road” is rough but nothing a hire car can’t handle (make sure you take out a UK excess policy to cover wheels/tyres/scratches/dents for about £10 before you leave the UK) and the villa doesn’t disappoint when you arrive on the gated drive. Key instructions are clear to follow.
We opened the door and heaved a sigh of relief as it was just as we expected it to be. A small welcome pack of wine, water, bread & butter was useful before setting out to the supermarket to stock up. (cheese or jam would have been great!)
There is a lot of essentials here left via the previous occupants and/or Sally (who looks after the villa for her stepson & his wife). For us, it included stock cubes, dried & fresh herbs, salt, pepper, oil, vinaigrette, seasonings, olives, salad dressings. We had added to this by the time we left!
Also provided/leftover were some UK adapters, a basic 1st aid supply and lots of extras such as books to read, swimming aids for small children, some pool shoes/sandals, cleaning products and washing machine capsules for the washing machine.
The master was large with 2 walk in wardrobes with hangers and an en suite with 2 sinks, loo, bidet & walk in shower. There is also a separate communal wc & sink in the hall. Open plan kitchen (with laundry/store room off it) with island, dining table & chairs then sitting area with tv. There is one double, en suite with shower, loo & sink and along a corridor, a twin with bath, shower, loo & sink; both have built in wardrobes with hangers. Every room has air-con. All rooms have a door to the patio/pool area.
The villa is currently one of just 3 built at this level on the hill, with the tiny church of the same name just beyond. There are currently foundations being built for 2 more villas but further down the hill nearer the village.
The infinity pool is, for us, the best feature of the villa (our daughter has a chronic illness and the pool is one place she spends all her time to relieve her pain). Unusually, it is salt, not chlorinated and a constant 1.5m deep and was used constantly!
As with all premises, there are some signs of aging/wear or minor issues. The cooker hood bulbs don’t work and when mentioned we were told that it hadn’t been sorted and to use a torch! The fridge freezer is showing signs of aging inside & out with corrosion and the ice dispenser was temperamental. Sunbeds are sun bleached and worn, as are the parasols and the pool towels are basic. There is however a new patio furniture set comprising of sofa, 2 chairs and a low table which are nice, along with the outdoor dinig table & chairs.
We are both business owners and were disappointed to find out that the wifi at the villa was limited – monthly I believe- and the previous occupants had used up the allowance so we had, at best, sketchy wifi and had to leave the villa on occasions to access emails etc. It really should be unlimited. We were told that it was available 11pm to 7am without restriction, but that is not helpful for business!
We had a major problem with the pool in the middle of our stay. The pool guy comes on Friday so we decided to take a trip out for the day. On Saturday we spent time in the pool and thought it was quite murky but assumed it would be cleaned via pool pump overnight and be fine on Sunday. It was not. It was very murky and the steps had turned green. We contacted Alan who was rather grumpy about having to come over and have a look. When he did the natural chlorine level was 0! It transpired that the pool guy had forgotten to turn the pump back on after his visit on Friday. Alan did what was needed and said it would be fine the next day. Ironically there was a storm that night followed by a power cut that night so the problem did not improve. Once the power was restored later the next day we asked for the pump to run overnight to clear the pool and make it fit for use again, which was done and 2 local bottles of wine left for us in goodwill. Given that the pool was unusable for 3 full days, this didn’t really compensate.
Sally was really helpful and made some great recommendations for visits & dining out.
On balance, the villa was a home from home and did live up to its overall billing but there were some niggles and issues that stopped it being the holiday we had hoped it would be. We still recommend the villa to others.
