Nothing in the hotel or the room even tried to come close to reflecting the price or -at the very least- the very fundamentals of hospitality as a concept.

Apart from the seriously lacking services which include and are not limited to:

1. No WiFi in any of the rooms and terrible reception at the "WiFi area".
2. Only one (!) power plug available (we had to take turns in charging our phones).
3. Most importantly: no hot water during the evening hours and later (it's unacceptable to be forced to have a cold shower after a relaxing day at the beach).

We immediately raised all issues to the reception, and throughout our stay, day after day, we spoke with three different receptionists regarding getting hot water to our room.

With the exception of the night shift receptionist (who was obviously embarrassed himself with the horrible state of the property), we were constantly lied to in a very condescending tone by everyone else. There was absolutely no management available to talk to and we ultimately filed an official complaint (which of course did nothing, as noone there seems to care).

We got different excuses from different staff members regarding the hot water situation and were assured that the problem was being looked into, while the truth is that the particular hotel simply does not offer hot water when the sun goes down, as is evident by other rooms also not having hot water (other reviews we've seen after the fact also claim the exact same thing). On top of that they really don't care to provide any kind of comfort to their guests (e.g. we were promised a simple power plug extension in more than two occasions, which we never saw).

We chose this hotel as a better option (cheaper ones where available at the time of booking at roughly the same location) and we were extremely let down.

I went here for 6 nights with a group of 8 friends while also having half-board included. The hotel had ups and downs. First the ups. Good location overlooking a big garden with a lot of flowers, the view is pleasant and it smells really nice. The rooms are ok but a little old looking. A part of the reception staff speaks good English and is friendly(except one that doesn't seem to care about the problems you have) All the other employees are friendly and polite. The rooms have AC but it stoped working for one day(it was really hard to sleep) they fixed it after. The rooms have mini fridges some work some do not( mine did not). The tv is really small and does not have a lot of English speaking channels. The parking is free but is sometimes overcrowded and you have to struggle a little. The food is fine in my opinion (i am a little picky) and the staff serving is polite. The major down of the hotel is that there are a lot of wasps that annoy you while you eat. Another bad thing is that a lot of shops and restaurants around are expensive and the surroundings are dead, you have to walk 15-20 min to Center Kallithea in order to find some form of nightlife and good shops. All in all it was an average stay. Recommended if you find it on a small budget.

We just returned from our trip to halkidiki today. We stayed at Macedonian sun; paid almost 700 euros for 6 nights including breakfast and dinner. It definitely not worth the money. The first complaint I have is that you cannot eat because of the bees and mosquitoes, they are everywhere, second all the dishes were dirty and all the food quality was very very poor. The rooms look like a cave from inside, they have no mosquito nets at the windows, so you cannot keep the door or windows open at all. When we arrived in the room, we noticed dead bees and cockroaches on the floor, and found 3 more alive.. very gross. As for the staff, the cleaning ladies were nice, changed our towels every day, the reception guys were helpful as well, however I cannot say the same about the guardian guy, which yelled at us because we were spending some moments at the pool (we were not talking to loud nor consuming alcoholic drinks) at night after we returned from the city centre. He even cursed us in Greek.. thought we don't understand the language.. very sad! Hope they will be ashamed when they'll read the review. The garden looks nice, tho it would be better if they would invest some money in redecorating the rooms. I would not recommend this hotel to my friends and o would not return for a second stay.

I stayed with 2 friends of mine at the Macedonian Sun for 7 days. The location of the hotel is perfect; next to the great night life of Halkidiki, only 5 minutes walking distance from the sea and also 10 minutes away (by car) from a very nice area with fish taverns and bars called Afytos. Even though the rooms of the hotel are quite old, they are very clean in general and the cleaning lady was coming daily. The maids were very helpful with everything we wanted. The restaurant staff was quite friendly and especially Mr Vasilis the Food & Beverage Manager was taking care of us everyday and was making sure that we are having the best holidays. In general the hospitality of the hotel was great!

We like the hotel itself with it's nice and big swimming pool and we liked the room with a large balcony to sit, even if it was very simple. But we were disappointed by the breakfast buffet with no fruits on the first morning and only apples and oranges on the second morning in a country where there are so good watermelons at this period. Coffee was nescafe. The staff seamed not really happy to be there..
