“Nice beach and Taverna; worth a visit.”

We hired a small Suzuki Jimmy 4 x 4 and went to this beach over the mountain on very rough sand roads; though it is accessible using “main” roads.

Plenty of parking is available and an enormous Taverna. I asked "why so big?" and was told that “the boats come in”. No boats came on the day we visited and we had a great lunch of Little Fish (whitebait) and Calamari with fish; chips nice and crispy. Note: there were no umbrellas or loungers for hire at this beach when we visited . Take your own. Perhaps they are available later in the season, who knows?

Well worth a visit and much quieter than the main beaches.

We visited this beach for lunch when we did the round the island boat trip. Pleasant enough but not a place where I would make an effort to return to.

We were advised to go here by our host at the hotel where we stayed. It was a beautiful quiet beach - sandy and a little pebbly. It's off the beaten track and there's no sun beds there which is why it's so peaceful. There's a taverna there and toilet facilities. Definitely worth a visit.

Visited here as a couple after walking with 2 of the Skiathos dog shelter dogs. Nice shaded parking bays for the car a Taverna that was closed and what looked like a small bar also closed. Stunning views and calm waters with only a few of us there it was so peaceful. Water did shelve quite quickly and would recommend beach shoes in the sea as I found it a little uncomfortable trying to get out with the small shale.

We hiked to Megalos Aselinos beach, located on the west coast of the island. It took us about two hours from Koukounaries on foot, but it can also be easily accessed by car/motorcycle, since there is a road leading straight to the beach. The beach is long and sandy, and the sea has a wonderful turquoise color. Though the surrounding hills are full of vegetation, there is no tree on the beach, as opposed to Koukounaries or other beaches in Skiathos with pine trees. There is a taverna nearby, but probably only in high season (it was closed in May).
