We have now visited this beach a few times and always enjoy the spacious taverna, the boardwalk and the easy, plentiful parking. We have never been when it is busy but apparently there are occasional boat trips that call in.

Being on the more exposed north of the island and with a wide open bay, this beach varies considerably with the weather. Over the last two weeks we have experienced everything from flat calm to crashing seaspray that soaked everything. This is a great beach for bay swimming if it is a calm day or wave jumping for the more experienced. My tip would be to swim early or late as in the middle part of the day, on a calm day pleasure boats drop off crowds for sunbathing and eating. An advantage of a beach that is used in this way is that there are sunbeds and a well staffed taverna. On a windy day they might not run specials as they know that there will be fewer customers and on a calm day it is a good idea to watch out for the boats coming in and get served just before they off load, or wait until the boats have left On a windy day you may be one of a very few couple or families and find that even in the height of the summer you have a quiet beach and good food, freshly prepared. It is well worth having access to a quad or car as it is well away from the main bus stops. Several of the staff are fluent in Italian and English. Food in the taverna is very good and some of the house wines are particularly tasty.

We hired a Suzuki Jimney Jeep for a week so we could get away from the more crowded beaches and this was one of the beaches we visited. A lot of the beaches on the north side of the island are accessed by dirt tracks with some pretty hairy bends and sheer drops, however, this beach is easily accessed on a flat road which turns into an easily accessible one leading to a large car park practically on the beach. There is a duck board leading to the beach which makes walking onto the sand and getting to the sun loungers easier. The beach was never too crowded and a lot of people arrived with their own parasols and towels and sat either in front of the car park or if you head to the right-hand side it is really quiet. The sand is coarse and there is quite a steep shelf into the sea. The sea can get quite choppy on this side of the island which means it may not be suitable for small children but is great for body boarding. The first time we visited the sea was really calm, the next time we went we decided not to swim as there was quite a strong undercurrent and cross currents so we sat at the waters edge and let the breakers roll over us. Good taverna with lovely friendly staff and toilets.

One of our favourites. On the North side so catches cooling breezes. Easily accessible via the asphalt road from Troulos. Gritty sand but it brushes off easily. Long expanse to walk along. Beach shelves quite steeply so deep water near the shore. Sea is blue/clear and great for swimming. Plenty of sun beds/parasols. Large taverna but some of the boat trips put in here between 1- 3 pm and swamp the eatery. If you want to eat- occupy the table just prior to 1 pm and place your order then relax.

This was our 3rd visit to Skiathos and we always like to come to this beach in our Jimny Jeep. I must say that I was totally shocked to see so much rubbish floating in the sea, there were a few of us who were in and out of the water collecting bags and bags of plastic and debris from the sea.
I watched people stabbing their cigarettes out in the sand (there are ceramic ashtrays provided so no need for this at all!), walking off and leaving their water bottles behind for someone else to pick up. Come on everyone, if we all behave like this - this lovely beach will be a rubbish tip in a few years and no one will want to go there!
It is a nice beach - let's keep it that way please.
