I found this place online when looking for things to do in Stockholm on a rainy day. It was just what we needed. We went to see a couple of the IMAX films. They are pretty pricey, but great movies with awesome effects. Being able to listen in english was perfect. The museum is free so you can explore as little or as much as you'd like. Some exhibits were great for having english descriptions as well, but there were quite a few that didnt have english.

This is an amazing museum. You can go through it in an hour, or spend the entire day here, depending on your level of interest. Lots to see and learn about, with incredible exhibits of animals, skeletons, human history, and more. The only thing to be aware of is that it's set up for school groups. Wish I could have gone there while in school! But that can make for a noisy experience if you're there while lots of students are going around. Maybe call the museum ahead of time to check when it will be quieter... All of that said, and despite being outside of central Stockholm, this museum is highly recommended.

The museum is extensive and free, with plenty of interesting exhibits to explore. There is a lot of English text throughout the museum for international travellers.

The Imax dome screen was an interesting experience, but try sitting farther back. We were too far forward and you lose some of the top of the screen. Plus, the movie was out of focus, which was disappointing.

The museum is free, the cinema is not, but I highly recommend it, especially if you've never seen an IMAX movie. English dubbing is available via earphones, when asked for (free of charge).
The museum looks small at first glance, but it turns out it has a lot to offer, and we turned out to have too little time to really savour it. Take at least half a day for just the museum, and add to that the time for the various movies in the cinema.
Near the metro, so easily reached from the center.

A rainy day in Stockholm could absolutely be spent in the Swedish Museum of Natural History.
There is a lot to see, and both young and old should find new and interesting knowledge.
There is a wide range of exhibitions, from evolution to polar expeditions, minerals and animals. There was also an exhibition about souvenirs and what is and is not legal to buy, take out or in to a country. This should be a must for travellers! I definitely learned a lesson there...
