Had dinner here our first night. The wait staff was on it. We had the tasting menu which started with cured reindeer, then a fish soup, a lamb dish, and then molten chocolate cake with licorice ice cream. The cured reindeer was good, the fish soup outstanding. The lamb dish had too much going on, it was not bad but not a highlight. I am not a fan of licorice but the combination of molten cake and licorice ice cream was a-mazing!!! The best molten cake we have ever had and we've had it in a lot of places!

Thank Velovino

We visited Hofnin on a Saturday night in September having booked the night before. We requested (in hope) a window seat to get a view of the harbour. We were pleasantly surprised when this request was fulfilled at such short notice!

I had the Plokkifiskur, a traditional fish stew that was delicious and very hearty. Mah partner had the trout, which was also delicious with some lovely touches. Portion sizes are very decent and lots of free and tasty bread.

For desert we shared a 'fluffy Skyr', more than big enough to share, which was just fantastic. Ambience is nice, very cozy but also with touches of class. An extensive wine list, and the house wine is fine.

We paid around £110 for two fish mains, two glasses of wine, a desert and two shots of Brennivin (not recommended unless you are keen on strong liquor). Based on research this seems reasonable given downtown Reykjavik prices.

I wouldn't pretend this is a hidden gem at all - although there were some locals in on our visit - but there seem very few of this in downtown Reykjavik. Would definitely reccomend for tasty food and location.

After a 4 hour whale watching tour (with no whales sighted), I was looking for something warm and found heaven in this bowl of soup. It was absolutely divine.

We went here for dinner on our last night in Reykjavik. I had the set menu. It was quite pricey at 8,350 Kr, but it was worth it! It came with cured filet of reindeer, which I had never had before and was very tender and tasty. The seafood soup came in a wide shallow bowl with all the seafood laid out (mussels, scallops, langoustines) then the waitress poured the cream-base broth over top at the table. Interesting way to serve soup and it was delicious! The pulled lamb was the main course and it was so tender. I love lamb and have had it prepared many ways, but this was certainly the best way. So tender!!! And the sauce was delicious as well. The dessert was a chocolate lava cake served with licorice ice cream. I am not a fan of licorice , but the ice cream was pretty good.
My husband had the lamb curry, which was also great (but not as good as the pulled lamb). The banana pieces in the sauce were an interesting and tasty addition.
By far the best meal during our stay in Reykjavik. Would highly recommend it!!!!!
