Wow, we were entranced by the Opera House. It is so impressive, so unusual, and so captivating! We went during "daylight" (dead of winter) when it was snowing, and then returned in the darkness (early evening after dinner). Worth going twice, as the lighting interacts with the glass and creates reflections. They turn on decorative lights after dark, which adds to the beauty. The snow on the ground and falling made for an even more magical experience.

I only had 1-2 hours in downtown and consider this a must see. You can go inside as well. Nice gift shop and seems to have rotating exhibits. It has a cafe serving food and drinks. The architecture is worth a visit inside to really appreciate it. It is on the water and a short walk from the Solfar (Sun Voyager) Sculpture (boat statue on the water).

We stopped in and looked around. They have a really cool gift shop. We didn't stay too long but it was pretty.

Stunning building and a great photo opportunity of the harbour, bay and the opera house itself. It's a building that shouldn't be missed as there's not another one like it. Free to have a roam around invite.

Reykjavik is an artsy city and this building is a part of the cultural scene. It dominates the area where it is situated. As you approach the sun plays with the building in a way that gives off a cool aura. The interior is open and worth the time to visit. They were advertising a few shows, but we did not take advantage of these opportunities. Perhaps another time...
