Good food and reasonable prices by Iceland standards. Down by the harbour had a lunch stop here. Nice burgers and fish balls. Also soup of the day very good. Fast service and soup refills on request. Quite busy which is usually a good indication.

We landed in Iceland around 6am, and not much else was open for hours. We stumbled upon this quaint little cafe near the Old Harbour, and it was the perfect place to regroup after our flight. We ordered coffee/tea, porridge with chia seeds, dates, strawberries, blueberries and apples (huge portion!) and a Sarah. They also had free wifi so it was very relaxing to enjoy our breakfast and plan our day. The woman working recommended a few places to check out during those early morning hours (Laugardalslaug, Grotta lighthouse) and gave us directions, which was very helpful. Cozy, quaint, relaxing spot - a great start to our trip!

We were looking for a quiet place for lunch, away from the city centre a little. Having walked around the harbour area we can across Kaffivaginn. It looked relaxed and had a good, small menu, with daily specials. Once inside it was clear it was popular with locals and had a good mix of workers and fishermen. We ordered (upon recommendation) the pan fried plaice, which came with soup, bread and coffee! The soup was very good and the plaice was amazing, very fresh (obviously) and served in the pan with onions and local potatoes. Fantastic, we went back later in the week.

Last day in town and looking for lunch before heading home. Had been told about Kaffivaninn by a local on the plane over. Good for breakfast and lunch - not open in the evening. We just wanted a fish based treat before going back to pack. Great location on the harbour but is a bit of a walk. Worth the effort. Fish dinner with soup and coffee included was great
A mix of local folks and visitors. Friendly and helpful service delivering good quality food promptly. Fish pieces were fresh and fab. We had standard fish and chips but the specials looked great too. For Reykjavik, the food is really good value. Hit the spot for us.
