Owner description: Your once in a lifetime opportunity to experience the Golden Circle in Iceland with visit to the Secret Lagoon and overnight stay in a bubble!
Reviewed 2 April 2018

Rosa, our guide, picked us up at our hotel right on time in a spacious SUV. We were taken to the national park, the Geyser, the Gulfoss waterfall, and the Secret Lagoon. We had plenty but not too much time at each stop and Rosa gave us great info about the history of Iceland as well as many Sagas which were both fun and interesting. The Bubbles were an unreal night even though the sky was a bit cloudy. We still saw plenty of stars and the accommodations were fantastic. Would recommend highly!

Loved the Golden Circle tour with awesome guide Guðmundur (“Gummi") Pálmason. The Suburban super jeep is comfortable and roomy for the maximum 6 passengers on the tour, and rides between each well-chosen site are short (longest is no more than 45 minutes)--plus these were filled with Gummi's extroverted banter, encyclopedic knowledge of Iceland, and warm good humor. This is not the kind of tour that herds you around in a group, and its small size is ideal. After learning the features and history of each site during the car ride, we then enjoyed splitting up and being left to our own devices at Thingvellir National Park, Geysir, Gullfoss, and the Secret Lagoon, where we were given a specific time to meet back at the jeep. As for the buubbles, they are magical! Like glamping in an invisible tent. It's a bizarre sensation to be warm and snug under an electric blanket (there is a lamp, two electric blankets, and electrical outlets in the buubble...although the lamp is low on the floor which makes it difficult to read by) while watching the surrounding trees bend in a strong winter wind. Distinct downside of the buubbles: the bathrooms are several yards away in a small house (too small for the total group of 18 people using the buubbles, since the kitchen table there only seats 5), which means dressing for the cold and putting on shoes in the middle of the night. There is substantial, annoying light pollution from nearby greenhouses that reflects off a cloudy sky (we're told it's not an issue when the sky is clear). Also, the surrounding trees mean the horizon is not visible from the buubbles, so hunting the Northern Lights on a tricky cloud-filled night means exiting the buubble as well. Still, half the fun was running around in the middle of the night with other guests shouting "Northern Lights!' whenever we finally saw some appear. Gummi is excellent company as a guide, and incredibly generous with recommendations for what to do in other parts of Iceland (after the tour, he sent us a lengthy email with detailed sightseeing tips for the Snæfellsnes peninsula, right down to where to eat lunch or take a coffee break). He is also a fascinating individual: an artist and musician, with clear and evident pride in his Icelandic heritage.

We had such a great time on this tour! Our guide was Thor - he was super awesome, very informative on pretty much all aspects of Iceland’s history, geology, economy, etc, and really friendly and funny :)

The ride in the SUV was comfy, and we visited the place were 2 tectonic plates meet, a spouting geyser, and a gorgeous multi-tiered waterfall. Great restaurants for both dinner and breakfast the next day. Loved the Secret Lagoon, and let’s not forget the EPIC experience of overnight in the Bubble. It was warm, cozy and like a dream. We didn’t sleep much, as we were enjoying the stars and Aurora hunting. It was too fun to sleep!

This tour is highly recommended, and try to Thor as your guide if possible.

We had a private tour in February of 2017. Our guide was Atilla. He was so informative, patient, interesting and fun. This tour was worth every penny. We saw things through the eyes of a local. We went to places off the beaten track and did things that other travelers do not do. We visitied beaches, farms and got so much information. We ate bread cooked in geothermal stoves, cooked eggs in geothermal pools, and indulged in Black Death. We went to the secret lagoon at night and had a massage from Silka. We were lucky enough to see lights at the lagoon, which was a surreal, unforgettable experience. Of course we did the tourist spots as well. I highly recommend the floating tour and night in the bubble. It is an unforgettable experience.

We had the Golden Circle tour and the night in the bubble--oh my! The whole experience was wonderful, including the entertaining information and banter from our guide, Attila (not a Hun)! Geysirs and waterfalls were great. For those who have mobility issues, this may not be the tour for you since there was a fair amount of walking on level surfaces. But the piece de resistance was definitely the night in the bubble. Think of sleeping inside a clear plastic beach ball. (No odor). It was like being outside in our private, tree surround world, warm and toasty in a comfortable bed and the heated bubble, despite wind and rain. No, sadly, we did not see the Northern lights that night as was our hope, but travelers are always at the mercy of the Icelandic weather. One caveat: There are no bathrooms in the bubbles--which is why I gave it four stars. You have to walk from your bubble (in the wind and rain, acouple of hundred yards or more) to the communal house, which has only two bathrooms for 18 guests. That part needs some improvement. It was pricey, like everything in Iceland, all a delightful Icelandic experience that made it well worth the cost.
