We have some friends that live in Bethany Beach and they had heard about this place, so the four of us decided to give it a try. First off, it is very nondescript from the outside, and we all wondered what kind of a joint we were going to. In fact, it consists of two buildings: the 50 seat theatre is in a converted garage, while the coffee & dessert dining room is in a converted house right next to it. It's technicaly located in Millville, just west of Bethany Beach on Route 26. The night we were there, tickets were $18.00 for adults.

The theatre is very nicely furnished, intimate, and comfortable. The night we were there they were featuring the reknowned "mentalist" Jon Stetson, and I thought: Oh, boy, this is goinf to be really corny. I was wrong!! Evidently Dicken's Parlor Theatre draws some world-class acts, and the the act we saw was no exception. It was fantastic! The shows last for 55 minutes, and afterward the audience is invited to the coffee house next door for dessert, coffee, soft drinks, et cetera. While there, the owner performs more magic tricks for everyone.

The whole experience was an absolute blast and we all agreed that we will definitely be back! Highly recommended!

We've visited Dickens Parlour Theatre twice this year - once in the summer and once in September. Both shows were fantastic and it's clear that the theatre has great connections to the entertainment world - these are world-class magicians. Rarely do you get an opportunity to be this up-close-and-personal to a performer, let alone a performer creating magical illusions!

As the other reviewer said, the theatre can be difficult to find, and the rental house on the front of the property is a little off-putting. (The house will be changed into a magic museum next year, apparently.) It's kind of across the street from the Giant Supermarket. Parking is free.

The theatre itself is beautiful, and all seats are good. Get there early for a front row seat. And don't be surprised if you are asked to be part of the show. Both magicians we saw used audience members for their tricks. Magicians change weekly, so there is always a new performance. Tickets are reasonable and all shows are appropriate for children.

In the off season, there is much less traffic!

The Dickens Parlour Theatre is such a treat for all; families, couples, friends or by yourself! From the house in front, to the facade of the theatre, one might think they are in for a questionable performance. Yet, behold the inside will surprise you as you enter into an intimate, charming theatre for 50 guests. Richard Bloch, a professional magician, has recently created the theatre to show case “award-winning conjurors from around the world”. My (young) teenage kids & I were thoroughly entertained for the entire 55 minute show. We can’t wait to go back! The prices are very reasonable: $8 children (under 15), $12 adults/children over 15. Do check out their website to see who is in town, however, tickets are acquired by phone. Their website is very basic and will hopefully someday include the story of Mr. Bloch, his magic experiences and how he came to start the theatre. You will learn of it when you visit and you definitely should! 8/2010
