I recommend this hotel...it’s a no-nonsense hotel with a good breakfast room, typical of European hotels...as a senior traveler, I appreciated the walk-in shower...the room is spacious enough...one drawback is the lack of an elevator...

Booked 2 nights in a sea view room, which was the same price or very little more than non. Room is basic and completely fine. It’s not billed as luxury accommodation. 10 minute walk into historic center of Tórshavn. Breakfast is typical with bread, cheese, meats, eggs, cereal. Took Aage up in the offer of a rental car since you could get it at the airport and drop it off there as well. Minimal formalities and no insurance waivers and nonsense like the big boys. Car was clean, new, and reliable and the total for 3 days was about US$250. It was included in the room bill. Double room was about US$150 per night; much cheaper than others. Aage communicates quickly to answer questions.

Hotel Streym is a no-frills hotel, and this is fine because that's exactly how it advertises itself! Rooms are what you might expect from a no-frills hotel: small room, cramped bathroom, paper-thin walls, and you pay for your room at the beginning of your stay. However, the rooms are clean, the breakfast is good and plentiful, the location is close to the downtown area, and the price is (relatively) inexpensive.

The parking in front of the hotel is usually filled up, but there's free public parking with no time limit across the street and a block away. There is an inexpensive and excellent Asian restaurant right next door, and there's a convenience store and bakery within walking distance (5 minutes). The downtown/harbor area is also easily within walking distance (10 minutes). There are no laundry facilities on-site, but there is a laundry facility in the harbor area, and there is a dry cleaner in Hoyvik (an easy 8 minute drive to the north).

I stayed 12 nights in this hotel during my trip through the Faroe Islands.

Pro:
Basically the hotel offers everything you need. I booked a single room, and this is indeed very tiny, a small bed, a little cupboard and a small table with a chair, that's basically it. The room was clean and so was the bathroom.

The hotel offers breakfast, it contained some fruits, bread, buns, marmelade, honey, eggs, for me everything I needed. Additionally, free WiFi is available in the whole hotel.

The hotel is located well close to the city center and to the port.

Cons:
First, the rooms are extremely clairaudient, you hear every footstep on the corridor. This is annoying especially at night when guests don't even try to be quiet and wake you up with talking and walking in the corridor.
Second, by accident I removed the pillowcase of my pillow during my sleep, and the pillow was extremely used and should have been disposed immediately.
Third, WiFi connection was for free, but the connection strength varied, sometimes I could stream videos, on other days I wasn't even able to send a WhatsApp message.

Summary:
For a quick stay the hotel is fine, but for a longer stay and if you really need some sleep, it's too clairaudient in my eyes.

Clean room, unfortunately mine was a single, so no sea view. Five minutes walk from the hotel to the ferries and town centre another five minutes away. Got a good deal on car-hire through the hotel, saved me around £60-£70 against the main rental places. This may be a budget hotel, but compared to other countries it isn't cheap, no hotel in Torshavn is. A short tourist season is the reason for that.

Room Tip: All double rooms have a sea view. No single do.
