Just back from Eleni Village and was so disappointed at the accommodation as we were sold this by Jet 2 as 4 Star. It was 3 start maximum. No hairdyer , no toiletries . very thin towels., no working ventilation, there is a damp smell in the room and we had an infestation of ants on a couple of nights. TV in room had NO English channels. The accommodation badly needs a revamp. The food is very basic and when you are supposd to be 4 star it should be better. That said most of the staff were very pleasant and helpful (except one). We were allocated rooms not consistent with our booking and neither the Hotel receptionist nor Jet2 rep were very helpful. On the Saturday night we had a young boys football team staying and running around the hotel it was just like Butlins in the old days.

Room Tip: NO WAY is it a 4 star accommodation so beware.

We had orginally booked the Akteon but where moved to Eleni. This turned out to be for the best. Staff very helpful and friendly. Alex in the restaurant was extremely helpful. The hotel was occupied by Germans, we were the only English staying. The menu cards where in German and we asked if an english version was available, took a week but in the end we were able to see what was on offer, so big thank you to Alex. We would certainly return to the Eleni.

We paid about £1,000 for two people self-catering including flight and airport transfer at Bookable Holidays.com, and I found this was good value for money. The hotel is a ten-minute bus or car journey to Paphos or Coral Bay, bus ticket 1 euro. In the village itself there are perhaps half a dozen restuarants and a couple of shops. The shops are small but have most of what you need. If you're self-catering, get the bus into Paphos and get off at the big supermarket - sorry, can't remember what it's called. An excellent restaurant within walking distance of the hotel is Caravelle. While the hotel is right on the coast and has a marvellous view of the sunset, there is no beach here. You have to catch a bus or hire a car and take the 10-minute journey to Coral Bay.

Our room was nicely refurbished, big enough and very clean. Cooking facilities for self-catering were as good as anywhere, with fridge, two electric rings, electric kettle and toaster, usual collection of pans, crockery and cutlery. Cleaner came frequently and was very good, fresh towels and bed-changes every couple of days.

My partner and I hated the loud pop music played from 8 till late around the pool - personal preference of course, but all rooms and apartments are close to the pool and if you're not a fan there's no escape.

We were self-catering so can't comment on the restaurant, but all in all a good, clean, safe place to stay with friendly staff. There's also a launderette.

As you'll read in most reviews, Coral Bay is a beautiful beach a 10-minute busride to the North. Here there are a lot of bars, shops and restaurants, I think also a club or two.

Culturewise I found Paphos disappointing. The place with the Mosaics is worth a look, but the Tombs of the Kings is not. Paphos is quite touristy, lots of shops and restaurants. Look out for anybody offering free tickets or prizes on the streets - they'll whisk you off to a hotel and try to flog you a holiday. Just politely turn them down and walk on.

We had a lovely holiday here but we'll try somewhere else in future.

Wishing you enormous fun on your next holiday,
Bedford Beach Bums

We arrived back from Eleni Holiday Village yesterday, having stayed there for a week, which should have been two but couldnt get there the first week because of the weather.
The resort itself is fantastic, very well laid out. The food was good for the amount of people they were feeding in one go, although the 'snack menu' that is supposed to be available at between 11.30 - 3pm but that is only if lunch is not being served, which is served between 12.30 - 2.30pm. If you dared to ask for the snack menu you were met with real reluctance. However what drinks available for all inclusive is amazing - all the cocktails, lovely hot chocolate, we never paid for one drink.

My real complaint was the attitude of some of the staff, not all by any means. Helga couldnt have been more helpful, as was Alex. The rest of the staff blew hot and cold and as the week went on the attitude got worse. Cyprus's main income is from English tourism, and although the winter is primarily for Germans, we were treated so rudely at times, that we would not want to return, as good as the resort was. We would also not recommend Cyprus as a holiday destination either.

I have previously lived in Greece for years, and am used to the Greek abruptness, so am not being over sensitive. Anybody in the tourism industry needs to be reminded that the customer is king.

Having just spent ten days in the eleni village the hotel is so clean every where is spotlass the rooms are large with a small kitchen the bar staff especially chris are fantastic and do there best to help evey one .The entertainment most night was very good especially the fire show .The food as we were allinclusive was not too our liking but there was always the option of the bar snaks the other problem was the the germans were using the sauna with out any clothing so was very embarrasing when down to use the indoor swiming pool my son spent an hour hidding behind a piller till they had gone.
We hired a car which was great and i think very nessasry the jaspers restarant at the top of the road was a very good night out as was the quad biking safari well worth doing the little beach at the end of the hotel was beautifull and the sea was very warm even though it was there winter .
I do belive that it has a few more english in the summer but we made a few great freind there .We asked for a plug for the bath maintance delivered it within ten minutes no problem for extra towels etc.
