Have visited Graz for more than 50 years with family from here, but now longer the case, so this is the first time in Graz staying in a hotel. This hotel was picked for all round convenience with business to tidy up, friends and business meetings all in a week. The location could not be better opposite the train station. The trains are good from the airport usually 2 an hour but on Saturdays less frequent. Situated here there are tram and bus stops close by which take you in a variety of areas.
The hotel is modern and has a roomy reception except when coach tours come in. Rooms are bright and well equipped. In our double room my wife and I had tea and coffee facilities, but it transpired that a similar room booked from my sister did not have this, and sadly we only found out at the end of the stay.
The room was really quite warm, though there is A/C but this is noisey. We slept with the windows open but the outside noise 4 floors up was also disturbing. This would be great in winter but no so good in autumn when weather can be warm. Twice we were disappointed to have to leave notes for housekeeping as there was no soap in the dispenser for the shower, and once for the non replenishment of tea and coffee as well as a used cup with tea bag still in left when we returned at the end of the day.
Breakfast is served during a long period from 6.30 onward. There is plenty of room and a good selection of items to choose from, but if there is a group in then this will be busy. Boiled eggs were hit and miss. We were told they were 5 min eggs but we had two occasions when they were not cooked properly.
Summing up, a good place to stay for transport, but let down a little by patchy room service, and facilities. Be sure to check when you arrive, that you have what you should have.
