We stayed here one night it was close by train station checkin was good but we change our room for the smell it had in it,
the room is basic with most amenities but get what you pay for can be alittle noisy but all good about a 15min walk into the old town
we had a good stay.
There is some construction work in the area so if you are walking from Graz Hbf it is a bit roundabout to get there but it is close by at about 5 minutes.
Comfortable yes and totally adequate but if I could have given a rating of 3.5 I would have. Just not really a place I liked but equally cannot be too critical as that would be unfair.
Hidden charges at checkout! AVOID! Booked a family room with breakfast for a fixed price, which included a breakfast price FOR THE ROOM. Booked on BW's own website!!
At checkout, Hungarian Judit charged us 15 EUR extra based on the number of people. The hotel website guaranteed a price, super unfriendly Judit chsrged us extra! We explained the website only allowed breakfast for the room but she was stubborn and put greed over customer service.
Left Hotel Strasser with a bitter taste of being cheated and thus (a) will never return and (b) be forced to out this con on TripAdvisor. Never coming back here, good riddance and 1 star!!
Dear jnoWales, We are sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with us. Please note that Judit just did her job - it was not her fault. We had some issues with the booking mask on the BW website and took care of that problem immediately. Now it should be more clear that a child in the age between 8 and 12 is charged € 12.50 for the breakfast buffet. We apologize again for your experience.
We stayed at Hotel Strasser for 3 nights. This hotel is now belonging to Best Western Hotel Chains. The location was fine.
The hotel and our room were super clean. Breakfast was really fine. And the most important thing was the attitude of the staff, which was outstanding! :-)
Parking was also fine.
This hotel is pretty reasonably priced, close to the inter city train and local tram lines, and tries to give people their money worth, at least where breakfast is concerned. There is an incredible spread with half a dozen dry cereals (like muesli), warm eggs of two kinds, multiple bottled juices, and even three candy bowls. There was also a cold bar with meats and cheeses.
The room was clean and very nice, though small, and they ran the heat at full blast. We had to prop the window open to regulate the temperature. But since it was winter, we did not have much trouble with noise.
As a bonus, since it was around Christmas when we stayed, the hotel was decked out in Austrian Christmas splendor. It was a sight.
