Great value

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 26 Sept 2016
This hotel is 5 min walk from Graz center. Rooms are big, simple and very clean.
The place do not have fancy decorations, but offers great sleep quality with a good bed and smooth sheets.
I cannot comment on breakfast, as we opt out.

We stayed one night at the Feichtinger in late July 2016 and recommend it highly. The room was clean and well furnished, with a good standard of bed and bathroom linen. The breakfast was excellent, with a fine of selection of cheeses, breads, cereals and fruit and even the possibility of sparkling wine. Parking was however limited and not free and we were unable to reserve a place. We were able to park on the street right outside for one euro, but had to move the car by 9 am the following morning.

The hotel is very conveniently situated. A short walk via the floating bridge takes you into the old centre of Graz.

Location - the hotel is in a fair good location, short walk to the important sights of the city of Graz.

Breakfast - good selection of teas, fresh ingredients and generally sufficient spread.

Room - This is where the problem lies. For business travellers, if you want a good room, book the junior suite.
Due to the different booking times of my colleagues and myself, one of them got the junior suite while the rest of us got the normal rooms.

The junior suite is newly renovated with adjourning bath tub, and air conditioned.

For the normal rooms, mine was on level 3 and other colleagues on level 2.

For my room, it had the air condition unit, but no controller; I check with the reception, only did I realize that air conditioning would be chargeable at 7 euros per day. It was summer, hence I was left with no choice but to pay for the air conditioning. The room is very basic and interior extremely dated (1980's ??).

Bed was ok, but pillows very soft, I had to use 2 pillows to get a proper rest.

Would I book this hotel again, maybe, unless there is no other choice.

I stayed here for a forumla 1 weekend. As this was in July it was quite hot but there is no air condition. As there are many resturants close by it was quite noisy to have the window open. Don't stay here during summer time. The breakfast was good. Good coffee, eggs dishes is ordered and the ham was good. Fresh fruit. Parking can be done for a reasonable cost just outside the hotel but space is limited.

We arrived around noon and were pleased to hear our room was ready. We could park at their own parking space just across the street, which was really convenient.

The room was simple but immaculately clean as was the rest of the hotel.

Location wise it's simply great with the old centre within a few minutes walking distance and the lively Lendlplatz around the corner.

Breakfast was absolutely fantastic with fresh ingredients, lots of choice and eggs prepared as you wish them.

A great hotel for a short city trip or if you like to have a break when you travel further south to Slovenia, Croatia, i.e.

Yes location is important and this hotel has a perfect location. But this is not everything you should look for. Staying in a charming city as Graz will become less charming if you spend a few hours in this unadorned, unsympathetic place.

I was on a business trip, so I did care less, but spending some hours inside at a rainy weekend day was no fun.

I totally understand why people go for personal AirBnB places instead of sterile hotels like this.

Room tip: Rooms 218 and 219 feel like being in prison. Nearly no daylight. Nothing to stay in for more than a few moments.
