It is with a large amount of doubt that I share this place with you.I found it two years ago by looking at the map of Vienna and its tramlines. The D-Tram ended in Nussdorf, such a sweet name, Nutvillage. At Nussdorf Bahnhof the 2nd. last stop, I saw a small, old and yeallow house. In there is a gasthof split in two parts by a Biergarten in summer, sprin and autumn. The food is autentic, local, largge portions and at a nice price. If your are alone or only two you might have to share the table with others. You can decide to talk to them or ignore them. They are most locals so ia little German might be helpful. Hope to be back this summer for a lunch outdoor.

As a local i like to explore new places and i have to say Gasthof Renner got me instantly.
Been there now a couple of times since the summer, especially nice in summer in the garden, and cant complain at all.
Typical Viennese food, great taste and good size portions. Being in Vienna and in the 19th district it is not cheap but also not overpriced for Vienna.
The Schnitzel is outstanding there, much better then on the touristy places in the first district!

Service is super friendly and quick. Food as said really good.

If you are around it is definitively worth a visit and a try but make sure you call in advance for reservation.

I have been eating several times at this well known restaurant with nice summer terrace . They are specialized in local home style menus with beef.
The atmosphere is traditional, old countryside style.
Service is fast and simple.
Most of the times many customers, families, children.

Take the D tram all the way to the last stop in Nussdorf, walk up the hill a little and find some beautiful vineyards. Enjoy the scenic views of Vienna from the hills. On your way back, stop by Gasthof sum Renner. You can't miss it. It is a traditional Viennese Guest House/ Tavern, serving lots of meat dishes and a couple of salads. As someone who doesn't eat red meat I opted for a Turkey breast "Wiener" Schnitzel. It was amazing! As huge as a plate, but wafer thin so very tasty and tender. My companions had a Cordon Bleu Schnitzie and the original Wiener Schnitzel made of veal - so more expensive than the many restaurants in town that serve the Schnitzie for half that price, but that's because they serve pork. The mixed salads went really well with the meats and overall a great dining experience.
While the menu is in German and the waiters speak a little bit English only, it is worth taking a risk. As long as you're not vegetarian and can pay cash, it will be a very fine Viennese experience.

Found this restaurant after walking down from the Kahlenburg viewpoint to take the D tram back into central Vienna. It was full of locals enjoying typical dishes such as tafelspitz or dumplings.Meat portions were huge so we opted for fish instead. It came perfectly cooked with parslied potatoes and with a separate jug of garlic buttered sauce.Good coffee.
Our waiter was friendly and efficient .No long waits.
