Owner description: Northern Soul Adventures was established in 2016, pursuing a dream to offer intimate & memorable experiences throughout the raw boreal seasons. We spent years travelling the world & living abroad, seeking adventure through numerous road trips, and collecting inspiration for what we do today. Our custom built tour van, is fully equipped with everything you may need in the arctic, allowing us to discover remote & dramatic scenery, often taking you the road less travelled. As passionate photographers we craft & capture vibrant moments, allowing you to appreciate the vast silent landscapes, in an organic storytelling atmosphere around the roaring campfire. Don't hesitate to book with this company--we had an amazing experience with them from start to finish. I did a lot of research into companies offering Northern Lights tours, and was immediately drawn to this one because of its stellar reviews and small-group experience. From my first email, Hannah was extremely responsive. And Jeff was a wonderful tour guide--he is a delightful person, easy to talk to, and super-helpful with everything from advising on camera settings to offering free tripods, to getting us into thermal suits, to making a fire and offering delicious soup and cookies. We drove roughly an hour and a half away, to a remote frozen lake with mountains surrounding it and lots of interesting tree silhouettes. No other tour groups were around there.

We never had to leave that spot, since we got very lucky with the weather (it had been a cloudless day and night). And the lights display was absolutely spectacular, starting from the moment it got dark! Jeff (and other guides we later talked to) said it was one of the best they had seen! It was spellbinding to watch the dancing lights coming from every direction. My photos were stunning--no one in Facebook-land believed they could be real! Jeff is himself a fabulous photographer, and he took lots of photos of us in various poses with the lights as background. All those photos, as well as a magnificent time-lapse video, were emailed to us the next day.

Since Northern Soul Adventures was not available for the other night of our visit, we also booked with another company for our other evening, and also had a great experience with them. My conclusions from these two successful experiences: find a company with a substantial record of excellent reviews; it's definitely worth paying more for the small-group experience (ideally, 8 or under); if you are into photography, make sure you have a guide who can advise you on camera settings and who has tripods to lend; make sure they take photos that they send to you right away; make sure the guide has thermal suits available; look for a comfortable vehicle (ideally one with WiFi, which this van unfortunately did not have, though it was otherwise very comfortable); and look for a tour guide who is a nice person, because you will be spending a lot of time with him or her. And cross your fingers and hope for great weather!

Thank you, Jeff and Hannah, for a truly memorable experience--a real bucket-list item!

Even though we had bad weather everything was against us it was fun with Hannah and Jeff. Thanks for the guide and for everything. I really enjoyed our trip. I hope I can do this adventure again with you some time in the future.

Amazing experience, even if we didn’t get to see the lights. Small group, cozy fire, homemade soup and cake, friendly guide (Jeff), ... Couldn’t have asked for more! We had bad luck with the weather, the rest was perfect.

We had one of the most memorable adventures of all time. Hannah assisted with our booking and Jeff took us to experience a bucket list item. He is a master of his work. He took amazing photos and a video which was received the next day! Well done and thank you. We will recommend you to all our friends.

It was our first experience with northern lights and despite a cloudy weather we managed to see some lights and take great pictures thanks to Jeff's experience who drove us to the right places. We really appreciated Jeff's passion and kindness, we were served an home made dinner with an amazing soup and a delicious cloudberry cake (quality and organic ingredients). I would strongly recommend to choose Northern Soul Adventures for the positive spirit and the warm family spirit!
