Nice fortress, good for outdoor activity. Placed on top of Trondheim with great 360 degree views. Here is an overview of everything from fjord to mountain. On hot days this is a great place for relaxation.

Kristiansten Fortress is a fortress in Trondheim and a 15-minute walk from the city center an situated on a hill overlooking the city center. One of the city's most important landmarks and once the most important defense work of the city. Today it is a popular tourist attraction. The fortress was built in 1682-1684 after order from King Christian V as part of the reconstruction after the city fire on April 18, 1682. In the 1700's, Kristiansten was expanded to the shape it has today. After decommissioning in 1816 it was location of the fire watch, and since 1997 as a museum. Kristiansten is considered a museum area and is a popular destination for a walk. During World War II, the Germans used Kristiansten as a place of execution. A thirty-nine Norwegian patriots were executed here, and an unknown number of people of other nationalities.
A good place to watch the sunset, take great pictures and enjoy the views over the picturesque town of Trondheim. And of course the fortress itself is worth a visit too!
