The Mercure Penang, great location, very clean beach, nice rooms, great food selection for breakfast. A nice dinner service....BUT... in a five day stay our room was cleaned twice. Both times I had to go to reception and complain we had no towels, no bottled water and no toilet paper. We aren’t “precious” travelers but I draw the line on no toilet paper. Breakfast is nice but no much variety..The lift card sensors is not sentivite..The sensors is very hard to press the number..At the beach have no bench or chair for people to sit..Room is clean and tidy

We have been at the Mercure for 10 days and have had a fantastic time.
The staff are really helpful and happy.
The rooms are cool.
Our room was on the 4th floor and quiet. Hill view. King bed was lovely.
Perfect position. Halfway between Georgetown and Batu Ferrenghu. The bus stop is right outside the Mercure but traffic is better at the stop at the Chinese Swimming Pool which is a 2 min walk away. Cost to either Georgetown or Batu Ferrangi is 2 ringgit pp and about a 20 min ride.
15 min walk towards Georgetown is Tesco shopping centre. Money change here and some shops. 5 min from here is a quat mall with restaurants.
In the next building towards Georgetown is a mini mart which is good for picking up snacks and water.
10 min walk from Mercure is Avatar secret garden which is great and a beach with fishing boats.
To get around, it's easy to use Grab App for cars... really cheap.
For buses, use the moovit app.
Both are easy to use.
Buffet breakfast till 10.30 has lots of choices and very yummy.
Set menu for dinner is 18myr for 3 courses. The fish is fabulous.
Perfect hotel for location, friendliness and price.

I love food. I will eat just about anything. It is a shame when even chips, pizza, soup disappoint. I couldn't even eat the Malay food I ordered - first time I have had to leave something. Their coffee is good, and I hear they cannot ruin a croissant. Seriously, avoid this place. There is too much great food in Penang to eat here.

Nice hotel, clean, good food, friendly staff. The beach was so so. My 11 year old had a good time. Close to Straits Quay which has some really good restaurants. We got a suite facing the beach, and had a nice view.
