I stayed in the studio, which was large, comfortable and beautifully furnished. The farm was welcoming, and the breakfast superb. It was SO interesting, staying in the former home of Giles the cartoonist, and hearing about his life from the owners of the bed and breakfast. Thank you for a great stay.

What a delightful find Hillbrow Farm was! We felt so relaxed and welcome here that we wish we could have stayed longer than the 2 nights we did stay.
Once the home of Carl Giles, English cartoonist, current owners, Barbara and Len, are slowly converting the buildings for accommodation purposes. We stayed in the room that was once Giles' studio. Large, light and airy with windows all round that opened onto green fields with grazing horses or iconic farm buildings, the upper room was most comfortable and homely. It contained a comfortable double bed, small lounge suit, TV and fridge. The bathroom (with automatic lighting and fans) was large with a great shower.
Breakfast featured home grown or home produced food, with a selection of cereals, jams or cooked meals. We had long chats with hosts Len and Barbara and felt like they were old friends.
One does need a car to access this B&B but it makes a great base for touring Suffolk and meals can be had at local restaurants and pubs that are within a 10 minute drive.
Service plus: Barbara very kindly did our washing when she knew I was looking for a laundromat.
We have stayed in a number of B&Bs but this would have to be the best by far for its friendliness and value for money.

Barbara and Len were very welcoming, the upstairs studio was the perfect family room. We stayed one night for a 'family do' nearby, but could easily see someone staying longer to explore Suffolk. Although positioned just north of busy Ipswich, it feels very secluded and tranquil. The breakfast was very tasty, lots of home made jams, sausages and fresh eggs - what a treat!
The scenes out of the studio bedroom in the morning - old barns, sheds and fields, looked instantly familiar, having grown up in Suffolk myself and admired the Giles cartoons from an early age the whole experience brought those fabulously detailed illustrations to life. The bonus of sleeping in the same studio space where Giles once worked, was a little bit of special english heritage.
In the morning after breakfast we has a little walk around the land, with abundant natural wildlife and some farm animals, our 7 year old also got to enjoy the place too..

Room Tip: It has to be the studio family room, for the view and the history

I stayed one night on 24th Sept. Barbara and Len met me as I arrived and were so friendly, I had the ground floor studio room, it was very clean with a small fridge with a jug of fresh milk and cold drinking water. The bed was very comfortable , the bedside lights were by touch and that was a nice touch, flat screen tv a lovely peaceful setting.
The en-suite was up 3 steps and was spotless, very powerful shower, basin and toilet.
I would definitely recommend this b&b to friends and family. Barry D (TITAN)
