I found this to be a perfectly fine hotel. The grandeur was a little faded but that added to the charm. The public spaces were impressive and I loved the blue and gold dining room.
My room was 99% clean (old window frames will attract the odd cobweb), well presented, warm and well equipped. The bed was comfortable.
The food was more 'good home cooking' rather than fine cuisine but it was good. Breakfast for 300 people was handled with aplomb and professionalism (thanks, Justine). It was noteworthy that every single member of staff gave service with a smile and made the guests feel welcome.
I would be very happy to stay here again.More
