Had a great meal today, 9 of us eating plus space for a double pram. Had a great secluded spot and plenty of room. Food was excellent, service was fantastic and the hot cross bun cheese cake was divine!
Thank you so much for a perfect Easter Sunday dinner with the family.

Found this little place as it's close to the crowne plaza we had booked for the bank holiday weekend. We reserved the day before with no problems - which was great considering it was Easter Sunday.

On arrival the area was well kept, and the place looked idyllic. We had a lovely warm welcome and we were shown our table. The place wasn't too busy and there was just a really nice atmosphere. You could tell that a lot of care had been put in to ensure this.

We ordered the pork belly for mains. Well. This is the BEST roast I have had in my life. Nothing didn't have flavour on the plate and it was a really decent sized portion too. Plated in a gastro pub style it looked as fantastic as it tasted.

For dessert we had the choc Brownie and sticky toffee pudding to share. Although the brownie was nice - the sticky pudding was by far superior.

The service was great too, it has a family feel here. You can tell the waiter / waitresses care about the service which is a nice change.

Currenlty sat here in a very pleasant food coma a bit upset that this find is 2hours away from our home.

Cannot wait to come back!

Visited as a family of four, two couples. A very friendly welcome before being shown to our table. We all had different mains and each remarked on the quality of the ingredients and excellent taste. All of the staff are friendly and efficient. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food and the evening, thank you.

Dropped in as we were passing and there were already a few cars in the spacious even though we were quite early for lunch.

There is a lovely pond (and ducks, obviously) and a rowing boat .

We had large 'artisan' baguettes with pulled pork (me) and beer battered fish fingers (himself) which came with salad and chips and was £7.50 each! Can't knock it. Very tasty too. They do some other traditional pub food like ham egg and chips but also things like scallops, terrines and salmon en croute etc. Vegetarian options too. Enthusiastic service and the owner also came past to check all was well.
Strongly recommended.

I live in the area so I know how hard good food is to come by here. This is the place I frequent most for lunch. Why? Because it never lets me down. This is not basic pub fare, nor gastro type. The food here is consistently good, original, beautifully presented and they offer great 'a la carte' variety as well as daily menus. Proper home cook feel with good fresh and interesting ingredients. Nice outside space in the summer with wonderful flower arrangements and ducks waddling around, real fires inside in the winter. Staff are mostly family members who invest in their guests and ensuring they are enjoying their visit and their food. This is not frequented as a pub type drinking hole, it is a restaurant with a bar. Place is super clean, toilet areas spotless, with some nice photos on the wall (won't spoil the surprise!). There's a small eating area by the bar (bit more basic with a real fire), and a main restaurant (with tablecloths etc. and a real fire). Never had a bad meal here and I've been over twenty times. For the area, it is a real gem. If I had to criticise anything (if pushed really hard) is that the bar area could be a little more cosy and homely. To me, a no risk place for an excellent lunch.
