Stayed here on Saturday 14th October 2017 for a family get-together after booking our room directly some months prior. Needed a family room for 2 adults and 2 young children (< 5 years old). The family room we were given on the first floor was OK, but could really do with some updating.

The family get together used Harry's Restaurant on the ground floor, and this was pretty good, starting with a cream tea during the afternoon, a great meal in the evening.

The major problem for us was the wedding disco, which although held in a function room, happened to be the ground floor right below our room. There was no mention of this at all during the booking of the room, and even during check in the staff didn't make any mention of the entertainment that would be taking place. Whilst we tried to keep the kids going till late, there was absolutely no chance of the children sleeping when the entire room was bouncing up and down from the bass line of the music until midnight. Even once the music stopped there was still a lot of noise from all the wedding guests till around 4 am. Safe to say it wasn't the greatest night for any of us.

Got even better when the whole restaurant was full at breakfast and we ended up getting a table made up outside.

The food served in the restaurant was great and the staff were good too, but as a hotel stay this was ruined by the wedding disco. The staff on reception couldn't have been less interested in our concerns, and were adamant that we must have been told when we booked the room. Think I would be looking elsewhere if I was back in Ross-on-Wye!

What a welcoming, friendly hotel with top rate service and food.
Although we arrived early, we were invites to have tea/coffee, a walk around town but we're happy for us to leave the car parked.
Everywhere was nice and clean, the bed comfortable, the food was delicious and plentiful. Excellent value.

At the turn of the 21st Century our team of Tutors and Trainers drawn from South Wales and the West Midlands would meet regularly at a suitable mid point which was The Chase Hotel, Ross on Wye.

We were always well received and very well looked after.

It has been 15 years since we last met at The Chase, we therefore decided to hold a mini reunion.

Lunch for about 20 of the old gang.

Mandy and Lotus were excellent in their support in booking the lunch.

On arrival Cherith organised us wonderfully.

The food was excellent, without exception all agreed that the fixed price lunch in Harry's Restaurant was well worth the couple of hours drive.

Finally, the Wye Valley cask ale was a delight.

We will return, this time it will certainly not be another 15 years!!

Lovely setting, arrived early so we said we were happy to wait in bar, but staff were happy to allow us to go through to restaurant as there was no-one else in there.
Was asked what we wanted to drink but not given any options, luckily the children had viewed the leaflet before hand so knew what they wanted. Food arrived, well presented but no one returned to ask if all was ok and we had to call the waitress to ask for more tea (and noticed another customer went to go and look for a member of staff to ask for their drinks) however children had just a selection of what was listed. I Questioned this and the waitress apologised and went to kitchen to ask, she came back to say the chef was making fruit kebabs but said it is just a selection of things 'either' a muffin or crispy cake. When I stated that the leaflet does not state that and its misleading in listing all the items I was told "well they can't just knock up crispy cakes" I held my tongue due to having young children with me but felt this was rather rude. The children were very disappointed that they only had one cake when the adults had scone, brownie and a pastry.
I would not recommend the children's afternoon tea to people - £9.50 for 4items and a drink (only got a 5item after asking) when the leaflet states 7 items and a drink. Poor service, rude waitress, and poor/misleading advertising.
BUT commend the receptionist who was very polite and lovely in asking if everything was to my satisfaction - told her all of the above and she apologised many times.
