“An excellent and well appointed temporary home for a family trip.”

We stayed at Little Home Farm August 29 thru September 5, 2014.
A fall get together for family from South Africa and the USA. We wanted to walk in the New Forest, be by the sea, and get a nostalgic taste of the England that we all have left. My sister selected this rental and what an excellent choice. The house is delightful, a private entrance into a beautiful garden with a fish pond, summer house, garden swing and courtyard fully equipped with an outdoor gas grill and dining table with cushioned chairs for eight completes your arrival. On entrance to the house one walks into a huge lounge room furnished with deliciously comfortable leather sofas, a large dining table, and all the entertainment equipment one could ask for. The kitchen is modern, well equipped and above all clean. My Bro-In-Law is our cook, I think is is true to say he was satisfied with what he had to work with, maybe not everything you might desire but all that was truly needed. There are two bedrooms on the upper level, one Queen bed, en-suite but not with a shower, a second with a King bed with a shower bathroom across a very small hallway/landing. On the ground floor level is a third bedroom with twin beds and an en-suite bathroom, shower only. We mixed and matched our bathroom arrangements. This is an older home and modern bathroom requirements are an adjustment. Were this my house, I would have put the twin beds in the bath only bedroom, and given the adult rooms the shower facilities. Not a criticism - perhaps a suggestion.
The owners were close and very attentive to us. They went out of their way to see that we had all we might need, and to offer suggestions and support for our various tourist ideas.

“Little Home Farm is a perfect location for a holiday in the New Forest.”

Little Home Farm is conveniently situated on the edge of the New Forest, close to Lymington. There is a (non noisy) pub literally next door serving good food, which gave us the option of walking rather than driving on 2 occasions. The property was clean and well furnished with comfortable bedrooms and plenty of space inside and outside the house to relax and entertain. There is a steep flight of stairs to 2 of the bedrooms but the remaining bedroom (with en suite) is located on the ground floor. We had a great week there and we would return.

“The standard of the whole place was old second hand & unacceptable”
Reviewed 3 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

The photos looked really good but when you open the door it all changes, never told that you are connected to a pub which has the kitchen fan going all day makes a lot of noise beside the smell, so you can't sit outside. Kitchen is the nicest room except oven so dirty couldn't use it, everything was old. Sitting room so dark had to light a fire to be able to sit In it. Sofas were so old it sagged virtually to the floor when you sat on it, don't know when the last time the cushions were washed as dust was a problem. The washing machine was ancient didn't work properly ended up dying on us. The fridge in the kitchen would suit a caravan, so small & inefficient. The bathroom in 2nd floor fowl , I really can't go on, for the amount of money we paid it was the worst we have ever rented in England, we come from Australia every year.

We were very saddened to get a negative review but grateful that you took the time to write it. It is unfortunate that you did not mention anything while you were here as we may have been able to rectify some of it.
I will try to answer to each of your points in turn.
We do mention that we are next door to a pub which most of our guests find to be very useful, no one has mentioned the extractor fan but we will investigate to ensure there is not a fault.
I am glad you liked the kitchen but very upset that the oven was found to be dirty-if this was the case it is unacceptable and I apologise, I only wish that you had mentioned it.
The oven is a Modern Meile oven, which is less than 2 years old. The antique hand painted dresser is old, very old and most people love it!
I am sorry that you found the sitting room to be dark, there are 24 light bulbs on 3 circuits, which seems to be at least adequate for most people, it is ridiculous for you to say that you had to light the fire to be able to see! The sofas may not have been to your taste, however we have always had good feedback about them being very comfy, I will check that nothing was missed, but the cushions are washed regularly.
The washing machine was not ancient and was very efficient but I am sorry that it did break down when you were using it, as sometimes things do, and was replaced within days.
The fridge is a standard U.K. under counter fridge which, following your comment, we have now added a 2nd drinks fridge to give people more space, so thank you for that.
It was very unhelpful of you to say that the bathroom was, “fowl” (foul) but give no reason for this so, as no one else can see anything wrong with it, I will ignore that one.
Overall a most unpleasant, unhelpful review which has understandably and possibly intentionally, upset us.
I would like however to reassure any future guests that this is the only negative review we have ever had and we feel confident that you will enjoy a stay here but would ask you to accept that some of the furniture is indeed second hand (antique) and for this I make no apology as it was chosen to compliment the very old building that it was intended for. It may also be worth mentioning that the author of the review was very, very cross at having to leave by 10am as they had never been asked to vacate by that time before? (Didn’t leave until 12 noon) I appreciate that it is a bit early, and we try to be flexible, but it is a fairly standard time suggested by many holiday lets to allow sufficient time for cleaning etc.
Thank you from Little Home Farm.

“Lovely surprise”
Reviewed 24 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Found the house easily and was surprised by the gardens. Weather was so hot when we were here that the two upper rooms were very hot. Ceiling fan and extra fan in the utility were awesome as wouldn't have enjoyed ourselves otherwise. Owners were very accommodating as he brought in a hospital bed for my mother so that she could sleep with her head and feet elevated as she does at home. They also found an extra fan for my mother. Would have liked hand soap in the bathrooms when we arrived but that was an easy fix. Plenty of space and three bathrooms which we took full advantage of. Would have like 2 sets of dishes so that we didn't have to wash the dishwasher every day. Enjoyed the patio table and chairs and ate outside often. Gas grill was also great as this is what I use at home. Also liked the washer and dryer in the utility. Good fridge in the kitchen and good size freezer which we eventually found in the utility.

Liked least: The heat! Can't change that! Would have liked cooler bedding - sheets not duvets.

“Fantastic Holiday with Husband and Friends”
Reviewed 17 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Tiffany and Steve were great hosts, very welcoming, helpful, but not intrusive.

The property is decorated to a high standard and can easily accomodate 6 adults. The living room was exceptionally spacious and comfortable. Even has a wii console. The kitchen is very well equipped, the secluded garden is well maintained and has a bbq (which we used nearly every evening). There is plenty of off road parking.

Lymington has lots to offer, shoreline walks, plenty of pubs, with good food at reasonable prices, interesting and busy saturday market. Nearby the New Forest offers lots of walks and cycle paths, for young and old.

It was great having shower/bathroom for each guest room. If I have to fault something it would be that it is on a main road, which can be busy at times. We had a great weeks holiday there. Would definately recommend Little Home Farm.
