We visited the West End for the first time in many years and were pleasantly surprised by the level of service and quality of the food. The new owners have started off very well and we will be recommending the restaurant to our guests.

Room Tip: We were only there for a meal so cannot recommend a room choice. It is on a fairly quiet street but very close to the town centre.

We stayed at the West End Hotel for 2 nights. During our entire stay from arrival to departure we could not fault this hotel. After a warm welcome we were shown to our rooms which were lovely and clean with tea and coffee making facilities and complementary toiletries.
There was a huge choice for breakfast with a choice of cold or hot breakfast.
We are in the dining room on the evening and the food and service were excellent.
For anyone wanting a hotel in Kirkwall I recommend the West End Hotel.

Today my daughter treated myself and my mother to lunch here at The West End. We all very much enjoyed the Chicken Balmoral and I can safely say it is the best I have ever had. The guys waiting on us were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Thank you, we will be back!

After a long journey i found the restaurant and bar shut . It was late . The corridors were freezing . Room had cracked windows.
No real apology - other than we're refitting .
Great - nobody told me - i paid £255 for 3 nights in a 1 star crappy hotel . Don't bother going there .

Was meant to stay here for the one night after a late night ferry trip from Shetland. However due to bad weather and no ferry sailings from Orkney back to the mainland we ended up staying for 2 nights. Our first night we arrived late as our ferry was delayed but still got a warm welcome and the offer of food but all we wanted was our beds! Breakfast was lovely and we also had our evening meal here and the food was lovely. All homemade and huge portions would recommend. We had a few drinks in the bar and was impressed with the selection of gins the Orkney rhubarb was delicious.

The location was ideal for the town centre all within 5 minute walking distance.
