Review of 7h Spices

7h Spices
Ranked #1 of 121 Restaurants in Hinckley
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: US$13 - US$32
Description: South Indian cuisine includes the cuisines of the four southern states of India: Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, The similarity among the cuisines include the presence of rice as a staple food, the use of lentils and spices, dried red chilies and fresh green chilies, coconut, tamarind, garlic and ginger. The four cuisines have much in common and differ primarily in the spiciness of the food. Here is a list of 7 spices for South Indian cooking that are most commonly used. 1. Manjal (Turmeric) 2. Malli (Coriander) 3. Milagai (Red Chilli) 4. Jeeragam (Cumin) 5. Kuru Milagu (Peppercorn) 6. Perungayam (Asafoetida) 7. Three C's (Cinnamon, Cardamon & Cloves) In keeping with the 7HSpices tradition, this restaurant is the result of years of research and trials across the four southern states of India, by our team of chefs and culinary experts. This team sourced information and ingredients from noted and celebrated cooks in the region. Gourmands from traditional south Indian communities were invited to sample the dishes as they were being developed resulting in some of the most delectable dishes from the region. Each item on the menu is cooked in its own distinct spices and style. This is a far cry from the idlis and dosas, typically associated with South Indian cuisine, which are traditionally consumed for breakfast in the South of India. For example at mealtimes, there are many specialties, which grace the average south Indian table

We ordered food from here for the first time, for my birthday. We were disappointed as the korma did not taste like korma and was very watery. My chicken tikka masala was pretty hot, compared to usual too. Also most places throw in free Poppadoms as a good will. Delivery was good and on time. Probably won't use again, not for us.

Thank Kyzzy93

Dear Kyzzy93, Thanks for trying us through JUST EAT and thanks for your review. Our apology for the food you’ve ordered wasn’t up to your expectation.
We at 7h Spices would like show the real authentic taste and flavour of South Indian cuisine here in Hinckley. When we say Indian food, we mean it very seriously. This is not a usual curry house and our menu and other reviews will reflect that.
Unfortunately we couldn’t offer anything complementary for orders through JUST EAT because of their hefty commissions. There are quite lot promotional offers for takeaways ordered directly from us. Most of our regular customers prefer that, so that they can exactly explain how they prefer their dishes to be...
And by the way belated birthday wishes...

We've become regular visitors to 7h Spice after being introduced at the end of 2017. Food is simply amazing - highly recommend Family Dosa instead of usual popadom and Meen Kozambu (spicy fish) !! Also experience Chef pouring coffee at your table in traditional way is interesting to see

Should say they are living up to their restaurant name. You will find some really good South Indian food like Nanddu(crab meat)puttu, kozhi chukka(chicken), meen varuvhal (king fish fry in banana leaf) not to forget kottu Paratha to name few... Some might find it a bit spicy, but you can let them know to make it less spicy. It’s a good catch for real curry lovers.

Not really paid too much attention to the restaurant before but on checking trip advisor this had a great rating, so booked a table.

Southern Indian cuisine so not familiar with the menu, the waiter offered an explanation of every meal but we decided to stick with two meals we were familiar with.

I had a biryani which was really tasty. It was slightly warmer than I had been used to but was lovely.

Highly recommend.
