Staff were so friendly and helpful and yhe food were soptless, however the hotel was nowhere near the lakedistrict, the classic rooms were not look like a 4* hotel and were all upstairs with about 20+ steps with no lift (it hasnt been mentioned on the advertisement), which was too difficult for me with being heavely pregnant. Therefore we had to pay extra £30 PNight to have a room downstairs.

We so enjoyed staying here last year we booked again for another two day break. It didn't disappoint. We had a garden room with patio doors ...lovely. The food was great. The staff ...so friendly and helpful ...special mention for Carol the receptionist ..over and above !!!!! Spa was brilliant. We will be back again for sure .

Room Tip: We have had two different rooms both excellent.

We have stayed twice both on Groupon vouchers, apparently the same deal but definitely not.
First visit used the spa at a reasonable price , ate in the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the stay, hence purchasing a second voucher.
Second stay, £40.00 charge for two to use the spa , which lovely as it is , is steam, sauna and Jacuzzi pool. The spa credit is actually a treatment credit with a minimum spend. I think the wording is misleading. The meal is now in the Bistro which is no where near as nice as the restaurant and the selection not as good. Spent £6.50 on a Sticky toffee pudding which was an inch and a half square, my husband very nearly cried and although I had asked for two spoons I didn't have the heart to have any from such a miniscule portion.
Breakfast average.
Nice sized ,clean tidy room in the stable block.
Overall unlikely to return now deal so reduced.

I have stayed in a lot of hotels but nowhere with such a great welcome and such attentive staff. The hotel itself is stunning, the room beautiful and food to die for! The room was different to a modern hot and had much more charm and character which made for a homely, peaceful nights sleep. The food far exceeded my expectations with a varied menu. The breakfast was also amazing, however it was the staff who really made our trip memorable. Will definitely be back

Booked this as have tried all the local spas to me and Appleby had good reviews.

Pros

Spa lovely - two outdoor jacuzzis
Food amazing - upgrade from the bistro to the main hotel if you are on a package. It’s worth it.
Rooms - although not the most modern they are clean and functional and the garden rooms have amazing views
Bar and conservatory- fantastic sit and relax areas. Great selection of drinks.

Cons

Have given Appleby five stars as the overall experience was excellent - however some of the staff were a bit dizzy and seemed to panic a bit, whilst others (Jonathan) were amazing.

Drinks service in spa was a bit sketchy.

Overall

A great little place - not full of pretentious spa goers and reasonably priced. Delicious food.

Will definitely visit again.
