“No thank you!”
Reviewed 19 August 2011

So disappointed by this B & B. Owner didn't even welcome us. Me and my friend went to stay for one night in bowness.. girlie time!! The owners were so rude and very unfriendly. Such a shame as the rooms were ok apart from lack of plug sockets and lights going out!! The dining room was so small we were sat with people we didn't know!! very embarassing. There was absolute silence as people ate ... so depressing. The place needs updating and the owners need to smile (if that is possible) Felt very unwelcome and so convinced they wanted us to leave. Not forgetting the shower --- scaled my head!! keep going hot and then cold. Do not recommend.

These so called 'ladies' were booked in for one night and during that short time managed to smash a glass on the patio (which they couldn't be bothered to pick up, so it was still there the following morning) where they were being loud and obnoxious and disturbing their fellow guests until the early hours due to their being highly intoxicated, which was reported by other guests. The lights went out because a bulb had popped in another room and this was immediately taken care of as soon as it was brought to our attention. On inspection of the room, after their departure, we were horrified to find red wine had been spilt all over the bed, the duvet, the carpet, the bedside table, the lamp and was even sprayed all up the wall, all of which had to be made right before the next guests arrived, which took a long time. They didn't even have the decency to tell us about the state of the room. I am sure that the people who were sitting next to them at breakfast were more embarrassed at having to suffer them as the dining room cleared quickly after they crawled down to breakfast at the last minute . As for them thinking that we wanted them to leave, how right they were and we certainly would not welcome them back either.
Isn't it strange that people who do not know how to behave in company are the ones who leave bad reviews? Sour grapes perhaps?

We stayed here for three nights in the annex, room was very clean with a huge bathroom, Judith was very helpful, telling us the best places to eat and was always very pleasant and cooked a fantastic breakfast, nothing was to much trouble for her.
If you ever stay around windermere, then this is the perfect place to stay, only 5 minutes walk to the centre of the village and 10 minutes walk to the lake and the steamers.
Never had a problem with parking.
If we ever return to this part of the country, this would would be our first choice of b and b.
Thanks again Judith for a wonderful time, Rachel and Simon.

We stayed here for 2 days and enjoyed our stay. The garden is the highlight of this B&B. The rooms are kept in excellent conditions. I highly recommend this place.

Just a 10 min walk to the main lake as well.

Very central for Bowness and walks round the Lake as well as an easy to walk to Windermere. Old fashioned rooms but spotlessly clean and well decorated. Rooms serviced. Very helpful hosts.
