“Lovely accommodation, great location”
Reviewed 23 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We had a lovely stay at The Granary. The quality of the accommodation was great and the location superb. There was also good attention to detail - a high chair, stairgate and cot for my 1yr old, and lots of books for my 3 yr old's bedtime stories! They loved seeing the horses and tractors in the surrounding farmyard and the Abbey and gardens a short drive down the road were ideal with a playground, ducks to feed, a cafe and loads of room to explore and run round. We also had super day trips to Clumber Park and White Post Farm. There is so much to do in the area we would definitely come back, and would stay here again. I can see The Granary cottage becoming a regular haunt!

“Amazing place!”

Thanks Steve for providing a perfect place for us to stay. The accommodation was brilliant with comfortable living area, en-suite bedrooms and neat kitchen. The grounds of Newstead Abbey are the perfect setting for a family holiday - highly recommended.

“awesome facility”
Reviewed 21 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

if I could give this more than five I would. The cottage lived up to the description and more. everything was clean and of the highest quality. Lots of nice little touches, like a welcome note with tray with tea and coffee and milk and a home made cake, most welcome after an all night flight. There was thoughtful notes left about where the nearest supermarket was, the best pubs, and even how to operate various gadgets in the cottage. Even some of our favorite authors on the bookshelves. Beautiful surroundings, with the gorgeous gardens of Newstead a short walk away, and the views from the cottage of the horses and countryside - very relaxing.
one small quibble - the cottage is set well back into the park. if you are fit and active the walk to the main Ravenshead gate is possible for public transport and the pub; however, if you are not mobile (like my 80+ year old parents) you will need a car.

“Marvellous short break venue”
Reviewed 1 December 2013 for a stay in November 2013

We could not have been more pleased with our choice of accommodation over the past weekend. We needed a self catering, dog friendly place to stay, relatively close to Nottingham University where our eldest daughter has been for the last term. Our plan was to drive up from Cornwall on the Friday night, collect daughter en route, and then drive on to accommodation. Arriving at The Granary after dark is an 'interesting' experience, given its location, but owner Steve's instructions worked well and, apart from one missed turning by 'the large green barn' - which in the dark was impossible to see - we arrived without mishap. It was brilliant to be able to walk into a warm, cosy and very well equipped cottage and feel we could relax for the rest of the weekend. The location of this place really is first class. I enjoyed some bracing early morning walks with the dog through stunning scenery. Later in the day on Saturday we walked to the beautiful Newstead Abbey and enjoyed walking around the grounds in the winter sunshine as well as having a tour of the house. We spent Saturday evening cosied
up with an Indian takeaway and a DVD which we were able to watch on the large flat screen TV provided. Our daughters loved the luxury touches like the large bath and power showers. We just loved the peace and tranquility and the 'escape from it all' feeling 'The Granary' gave in abundance. Highly recommend.
